According to the pro-Houthi part of the Yemeni Army, the Saudi-led coalition has violated the ceasefire regime near the port city of al-Hudayah hundreds of times since December 17, when the truce took effect.
Army spokesman Brigadier Yahya Sariyah told al-Masirah TV on December 23 that the coalition had violated the Hudaydah ceasefire 223 times during this period. These violations reportedly included 51 missile attacks, 155 cases of artillery fire and shelling as well as infiltration attempts.
According to Brigadier Sariyah, Saudi warplanes continue to carry out raids over the region.
Clashes have been also reported in the area mutliple times since the establishment of the ceasefire. According to local sources, forces loyal to the Saudi-led coalition have made several attempts to advance in the vicinity of al-Hudaydah.
The Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition reached the ceasefire agreement during the recent round of peace talks in in Sweden.
The warring sides agreed on the withdrawal of their forces and the deployment of UN monitors to the port of al-Hudaydah. UN monitors arrived in Yemen on December 22.
