The Houthis (Ansar Allah) announced on September 7 that they had shot down another American-made Reaper combat drone in support of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip as well as in response to recent strikes on Yemen by the United States and the United Kingdom.
In a statement, Houthi military spokesman Brigade General Yahya Sarea said that the drone was shot down by Yemeni air defenses while it was conducting “hostile acts” over the central province of Ma’rib.
“This is the eighth aircraft of this type that the Yemeni Armed Forces have succeeded in shooting down during the battle of the promised conquest and the holy jihad in support of Gaza,” the spokesman said.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces continue to perform their jihadist duties in victory for the oppressed Palestinian people and in defense of dear Yemen, and with the help of God Almighty, they are in the process of strengthening their defensive capabilities to confront the American-British aggression and respond to it by targeting its hostile military movements in the naval operations area,” he added.
The Houthis released no pictures or video to support their claim as they have in the past, though such material can appear in the upcoming few days.
The U.S. military told The Associated Press it was aware of the claim but has “received no reports” of American military drones being downed over Yemen.
MQ-9 combat drones, which cost upwards of $30 million per a unit, are primarily used to collect intelligence, but have the ability to conduct pinpoint strikes. The advanced drones can operate for more than 27 hours and reach altitudes of over 25,000 feet.
Following the Houthi announcement, Yemen’s Al-Masirah news channel reported multiple “American-British” strikes in the southern province of Ibb.
Since November, the Houthis, who are backed by Iran, have attacked dozens of vessels affiliated with Israel or owned by the U.S. and the UK in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea in response to the war on Gaza.
The group also launched dozens of drones and missiles at Israel and shot down at least seven American-made combat drones over Yemen and nearby waters.
The U.S. and the UK have carried out hundreds of strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen since January. Israel also launched an attack against al-Hodeidah last month after a deadly drone strike on the city of Tel Aviv. However, the group remains undeterred.

oh, maybe putin’s glorious red army will score its first one as well. in a few years. or maybe decades. ahm. i’m afraid i’m too optimistic. but maybe they will spill fuel on some of them instead. they have so many opportunities to do so over the black sea. ah. not mentioning their “hypersonic dominance”.
russia did shoot down a us mq-9 over the black sea you moron. and need i remind you it took no effort.
it was disabled by a stunning maneuver of kerosene pissing. just place some houthis in crimea and give them weapons to shoot down the drones. then say russia had nothing at all to do with it. its the game nato plays, so they should understand
it’s a done don’t get too excited
he wouldn’t even realize russia defeated both napoleon and hitler.. it’s at sea where russia loses having only the crimea as a warm water sea port. eg the russo japanese was of 1912 set up by kaiser willhelm which wiped out russias navy pre emptive of ww1, costing them morale and a fortune in trying to rebuild when ww1 was largely land based for them anyway.
whinny the pooh knows more about war than you… if you can intercept and decrypt the drone’s comms, you let it be and use that intel to predict where the himars will be for their next attack, and welcome the war criminals with iskander pizza delivery and wipe out their entire combat crew and equipment. better than taking out a drone, is to incinerate the actual war criminals on the ground, and see how long it takes for them to figure it out….
that’s not the purpose of war. wars are a business they are the most profitable business you’re naively believing the peace propagandas they peddle.
here’s a clue about the first casualty of war, the truth. truth exposed west wants 26 trillion in ukraniun rare.. you tube lena petrovna i just watched australia has an abundance already of all of those resources one along with canada best in uranium, we have closed down our coal mines by law, which btw where sold to indian investors pre emptively for billions.
and the environment minister has just shut down the opening of an anticipated billion dollar gold mine as well as the pink diamond mines are having a holiday for a few years etcetera etcetera you know don’t want excess to demand.
there’s only one shortage in this world and that is honesty and the courage to tell the truth.
hahaha haha your funny.
‘a source told sp*tnik that the drone had been shot down using the 2k12 kub – a s*viet air defense system developed in the 1960s to take on array of aerial threats.
‘the h*uthis are known to have modified the kub – which was delivered to y*men during the cold war and in the 1990s in large quantities, to fire the homegrown fater-1 (‘innovator-1′) interceptor missile in 2019.’
