The Houthis (Ansar Allah) released footage on October 31 showing a series of strikes by Rujum drones against Saudi-backed forces across several fronts in Yemen.
The video, running more than five minutes, shows drones tracking personnel, military vehicles and fortified positions from above before targeting them with munitions.
The footage captures several explosions, followed by fires and plumes of smoke rising from trenches, bunkers and frontline posts in mountainous, rocky and desert terrain. Notably, one of the drone strikes blew up a main battle tank hidden between trees.
The Rujum is a modified version of the Chinese-made YD6-1000S hexacopter drone, featuring a 44-minute flight time and a 2-kilogram payload capacity. The drone has been adapted to deploy small unguided munitions such as 60 mm mortar rounds.
Earlier this month, the Houthis announced that Rujum drones had carried out strikes beyond Yemen’s borders, in the Saudi provinces of Jizan, Najran and Asir.
The Houthis’ use of small grenade-dropping drones such as the Rujum, alongside first-person-view suicide drones, is giving them a military edge across multiple fronts in Yemen. Saudi-backed forces and even the Saudi military have yet to address this growing threat.
