For the second time this month, the Houthis used what they described as a “cruise missile” in an attack on a strategic facility in southern Saudi Arabia.
The new attack, which occurred in the late hours of June 19, targeted a major power plant in the area of al-Shuqaiq in the Kingdom’s southern province of Jizan, according to the al-Masirah TV network.
Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari, a spokesman for the Houthis, said that the new missile strike was a response to the “continued crimes” of the Saudi-led coalition and the siege imposed on Yemen.
“There are great surprises coming, God willing, we will target positions that are more sensitive for the Saudi regime if it continues to escalate [the situation],” Sari added.
Last week, the Houthis also launched a “cruise missile” at the Abha International Airport in southern Saudi Arabia. The missile hit the airport with high-accuracy rendering it out of service and injuring dozens of civilians.
The Houthis had used real cruise missiles before. In 2017, the Iranian-backed group launched what is suspected to be an Iranian Soumar cruise missile at the Barakah nuclear power plant in the UAE. However, the missile failed minutes after launch and crashed in northern Yemen.
The Saudi-led coalition has not commented on the Houthis’ claims, so far. However, the upcoming few hours will likely reveal more details regarding the attack.

The Houthis stated that the airport attack targetted the control tower. The saudi video showed the arrivals hall as a supposed explosion ripped the roof open. Funnily enough two large information screens directly in the area of the ‘blast’ did not even move in the Saudi ‘security camera evidence’ shown in a previous Southfront report.
Something ain’t kosher me thinks with the Saudi cries of ‘Civilians Killed by Houthis’. Has the Arrival Hall video been fabricated ? As if the Saudi regime gives a Rats Arse about any civilians anywhere in the world anyway.

I read that the camera evidence was tampered to give the appearance of an explosion but the editing was amateurish so that the effects of the explosion that would be expected seemed not to happen as you pointed out one example. I do not remember where I read it but Coalition media is that case where guilty (lies) until proven innocent (truthful).
This is the problem the West in particular has. Mixing Hollywood with reality is a very difficult thing to do seamlessly. Russia also suffers from this. A young Russian contractor to the Russian MOD used an image from a video game by accident , to support an MOD statement. It was about 2 years ago I think.

I was amazed by the range of some of the Houthi strikes. Appears N Yemen is rather advanced in fabrication of these weapons. Sort of like an underground and hidden aerospace industry. :)
As the US is now finding out with Iran, sanctions only encourage innovation that can make the US targets stronger.

well i would think (and hope) SAA is fighting for their home and country, but it is understandable that russia and iran are fighting just to get rid of the rats and stabilize the region. i just wish they would regain that steamroller momentum again. why did it evaporate? do u know? and how can we get it back?
My best guess is this was just a test. Maybe a way to put some political pressure in light of Astana talks. Losses were not high enough to stop full-scale offensive.

Maybe I was not clear enough – I don’t think this was a full scale all out offensive. It seems like it was test of Turkish resolve to protect Idlib, or, just a way to force jihadi response and bomb them to hell. I believe it was more game of politics then real war effort.

Let there be no doubt that Turkey is protecting it’s rat brigades. Openly calling Erdo out is not part of the plan at this point, as Russia, Syria and Iran still need Turkey on the fence, not openly with NATO. Each side is using the other at this point, continuing the brinksmanship until events force otherwise. IMO, Turkey has never left the NATO camp and is playing the spoiler, hopefully to their benefit. Notice how the US continues to call for cease fires, effectively to help the Kurds’ enemies? Every so often, Putin must hit him on the nose with a newspaper to show him where his limits are. Sooner or later, Erdo will be forced to show his real hand openly. That’s when TSHTF.

Sorry, I did not see your post. I have my suspicions…which are nothing you haven’t probably heard before. I think the whole corridor idea is alive and well. Qattar still supports terrorists at the behest of the Zionist mob, Turkey still provides an entry point and logistics. The Kurds are Erdo’s reason for being there…’terrorists’. The US reason now is the preservation of the Kurds, from the Turks, while they embed themselves even more. I suspect there will be an event or circumstance that will enable them to openly unite. Both sides have settled in and only trade potshots, as it were. The Turks (as always) want to control the flow of riches, the Kurds want to access the riches and a chunk of land. Which is basically the same situation that has always been since for how long. What remains to be seen is how Iran approaches this. Their recent posture during the FF ships and drone downing are encouraging. It seems they have outsmarted DC/TA for now and called their bluff. I also think that what Syria can accomplish in Raqqah will be pivotal for SAA in the future. Erdo will play his hand as long as he can, before he falls back in with the US. Expect to see alot more crying to the Russians, as he continues to try to play them. Expect to see alot more Russian bombing as he continues to accommodate the Zionist backed terrorists. I’d love to see more Iranian tech into Syria. Strange how they and the Yemeni military breathe new life into old weapon systems.
yea it seems turkey wants to do its own thing, have its own “caliphate” or empire or whatever, until putin gives erdo a good enough reason to finally abandon US/NATO for good. i was also very happy with iran outsmarting US lately, id love to see more iranian tech into syria as well, such as SAM systems that will actually shoot down zionist aircraft. i read a report on almasdarnews that turkey is prohibiting its jihadists from downing russian planes with their MANPADS. russia and turkey have to calculate with the disintegrating states of A and the all for a greater war hawks from washington dc egged on by the ever evil squatters in tel aviv. so slow and methodically will do it too and when idlib and hama and homs etc are secure they can go after the sdf and thread carefully since they are backed by the disintegrating states of A. but turkey won’t allow the kurds to set up an independent statehood but as long as they are supported by washington dc it will take time.
Like Ansarallah In Yemen, the SAA is indeed fighting for their home and country and Assad has provided the iron resolve needed to face down the foreign enemies. However, Assad could not succeed without help. Complete Syrian collapse was undoubtedly prevented but what the final post-invasion settlement will look like remains to be seen.
Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are separate from Syria with their own interests, although there are certainly shared interests with Syria. But we have seen division and betrayal already, on all sides and much has been said here at SF about this. These are questions to ask:
Putting aside the possibility of deception by Erdogan, how far will Russia go in its attempt to oust Turkey from the US orbit and NATO?
Then there is Israel and the SDF/US in Eastern Syria. Is this going to end in effective partition of Syria for the sake of establishing peace and stability, with a fragmented weakened Syria that will please Israel? Israel should remember this has happened before, the 1947 partition was a great powers solution at the expense of Palestinians. And like then, I doubt partition of Syria will bring peace, it certainly will not bring stability.
This is no longer a civil war but a war between two states. Everything just seems to build up to one giant conflagration in the Middle East. Who gets to profit in the new status quo when the dust settles?
houthis are for the people while saudi is an autocratic dictatorship and support such a solution for Yemen of course and since the disintegrating states of A is solidly on the saudi side they can supply top notch weaponry to mohammed bin salman (of fake leonardo da vince buy) and be paid for it while for example the sdf kurds can’t pay a penny. and the saudis, so far, are helping the disintegrating states placing their bonds which to a large extent means that the saudis are paid in governments bonds with interest at 2% for oil delivered to the states. and the interest for bonds sold by the disintegrating states is waning and that is a problem and even the saudis are getting a bit bothered having to take us government bonds and would, if they could prefer hard cash in payment.
