On August 18, the Yemeni Missiles Force [loyal to the Houthis] announced that it had launched a Badir-1 “ballistic missile” at a camp of the Saudi military in the southern Saudi province of Jizan.
“The ballistic missile hit its target accurately and caused human and material losses inside the targeted camp,” a source in the Yemeni Missile Force told the Yemeni al-Al-Masirah TV.
The Badir-1, which was first revealed on March 22, is in fact a locally-made copy of the Iranian-made solid fuel artillery rocket, Fajir-3. The rocket has a high accuracy and a speed over 4,5 Mach, according to the Yemeni Missiles Force.
Minutes after the Yemeni Missiles Force announcement, the UAE-based al-Arabiya TV reported that the Royal Saudi Air Defense Force (RSAD) tracked and intercepted a “ballistic missile” of the Houthis over the southern province of Najran, east of Jizan.
According to the Saudi-led coalition, the Houthis have launched 177 missiles at Saudi Arabia since the outbreak of the Yemeni war in 2015. The missiles are usually launched from the northern Yemeni province of Saada, which is known as the homeland of the Houthis.
They make them at home, or Iranian engineers do it for themselves which is the same, then they are ahead of the Saudi Bedouins who use only imported products.
It seems that in the near future they will be able enough to launch much bigger number of précised heavy rockets. Then it would be worth seeing spectacle how Saudis will perform in utter panic.
