On June 1, the Houthis threatened the UAE capital of Abu Dabi with missile strikes in retaliation for the country’s participation in the Saudi-led military campaign in Yemen.
“From now on Abu Dhabi is no longer safe, it will be within our ballistic missiles’ range,” Brigadier General Sharaf Ghaleb Luqman said in a statement, according to Yemen’s Saba news agency.
Brigadier General Sharaf Luqman added that Yemeni forces would confront the Saudi-UAE-backed advance, which is now ongoing in the country’s western coast, near the port city of Hudaydah.
“Yemen’s army supported by popular committees has recaptured most of the areas in the western coast,” the brigadier general said. “Islands and areas, where the occupation forces of the Saudi-UAE-led coalition are stationing, will be a cemetery.”
He also described reports about the Saudi-UAE advance in the northern province of Sa’ada as false.
On June 2, chief of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee Mohammed Ali al-Houthi announced that Yemeni forces had shot down a Saudi-led Apache helicopter during overnight clashes west of the Hais district, on the western Yemeni coast.
According to pro-Houthi sources, the coalition-backed Abu Haron Battalion of Al-Amalika (Giant) Brigade lost at least 238 fighters and over 51 military vehicles in clashes in the al-Fazah area of the Tahita district.
Additionally, the Yemeni TV station Al Masirah reported that Houthi-led forces had destroyed two battle tanks at the Yemeni-Saudi border.
