On September 2, the Yemeni Air Force and the Yemeni Missiles Forces [both loyal to the Houthis] carried out a coordinated attack on several military positions in the southwestern Saudi province of Jizan.
In details, the Yemeni Missiles Forces launched a Badir-1 “ballistic missiles” on a position of the Saudi military in Jizan, while armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) of the Yemeni Air Force bombed several gatherings of Sudanese soldiers in the province.
Later, a spokesman of the Saudi-led coalition, Colonel Turki al-Malaki, said that the Royal Saudi Air Defense Force (RSAD) tracked and intercepted a “ballistic missile” of the Houthis, which was heading towards Jizan. According to Col. al-Malaki, the missile was launched from the northern Yemeni province of Saada, which is the homeland of the Houthis.
“The missile was heading towards the city of Jizan and was deliberately launched to target civilian and populated areas. The Royal Saudi Air Defense Force (RAF) managed to intercept and destroy the missile, the interception didn’t result in any casualties” the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted Col. al-Malaki as saying.
The Saudi-led coalition will likely respond to this coordinated attack by targeting positions of the Houthis in Saada, as it has done many times before.
