On September 2, the Yemeni Air Force and the Yemeni Missiles Forces [both loyal to the Houthis] carried out a coordinated attack on several military positions in the southwestern Saudi province of Jizan.
In details, the Yemeni Missiles Forces launched a Badir-1 “ballistic missiles” on a position of the Saudi military in Jizan, while armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) of the Yemeni Air Force bombed several gatherings of Sudanese soldiers in the province.
Later, a spokesman of the Saudi-led coalition, Colonel Turki al-Malaki, said that the Royal Saudi Air Defense Force (RSAD) tracked and intercepted a “ballistic missile” of the Houthis, which was heading towards Jizan. According to Col. al-Malaki, the missile was launched from the northern Yemeni province of Saada, which is the homeland of the Houthis.
“The missile was heading towards the city of Jizan and was deliberately launched to target civilian and populated areas. The Royal Saudi Air Defense Force (RAF) managed to intercept and destroy the missile, the interception didn’t result in any casualties” the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted Col. al-Malaki as saying.
The Saudi-led coalition will likely respond to this coordinated attack by targeting positions of the Houthis in Saada, as it has done many times before.

It is increasingly apparent the initiative has decisively shifted to the Houthis as the Coalition can no longer engage in any meaningful offensive. While this is bad, the situation is far worse for the coalition as even the ability to put up any effective defence is in doubt given the video evidence supplied by Houthis.
It appears that not only are the mercenaries a farce, but the KSA military seems equally farcical. Is this why the Houthis are confident enough to engage several KSA provinces simultaneously including the highly important and strategic Jizan? Yes, but I think it goes further than this. The KSA military is in tacit revolt (insubordination and refusal to fight in the army and officers) and is permissive of a deteriorating situation on the Saudi border with Yemen to undermine MbS – once the rats abandon MbS sinking ship, there will be a coup that I expect will culminate in MsB being summarily executed. Is this assertion half baked? No it is not.
MbS made many enemies in the military when he arrested key members of the Royal family. Add to this his completely inept handling of the war in Yemen and given he has given himself unprecedented autocratic power, he cannot shift blame as he had done before in Feb. 2018 – sacking the generals to get a fresh new start in Yemen. Well the freshness wore off pretty quickly as setbacks mounted to the point that the Coalition could actually be crushed in the field of battle.
While the mercenaries do not want to sign up as it is a death sentence, it is also the KSA military that does not want to fight for MsB as giving him any victories will only strengthen his hand. No one wants to fight for this madman and so the defeats will continue until his overthrow. MbS set his bed on fire, and now he must sleep in it.

The Houthis give great hope to the little guys who have to fight against a major power in future. They have effectively rewritten the manual on Guerrila Warfare/conventional war hybrid Warfare. As long as you have some conventional defence forces still viable and some external powers not against you ,there is hope. It may take your country back to the Stone Age temporarily but that may change if you win the war.
