This is an updated variant of the video “History’s Deadliest Pandemics: From Antonine Plague To COVID-19” released on March 19.
This video visualizes some of history’s most deadly pandemics, from the Antonine Plague to the ongoing Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The Novel Coronavirus outbreak started in China in December 2019. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared it a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30 January 2020. The outbreak was officially declared a pandemic on March 11.

That’s why they offset Day 0 to the first 100th case in this trajectory chart – it kind of smooths out the initial reporting noise like testing issues. Just eyeballing that chart though, it looks like offsetting Day 0 to the 1000th case would still leave US near or at the top. And case numbers will be doubling every day in the US when doctors can test everyone they want (not those the CDC decides) to test. I see the MSM is already downplaying our botched response by moving Day 0 the other way – to the 10th case. Look how good the US is doing in this FT chart ‘adjusted’ for us:

We (the US) had two months advance notice (thanks to China) of a potential pandemic, and we’re still mass-emergency-ordering components of the testing kits. That tells me we were and are still unprepared for ANY pandemic. Trump cut something like 1% of the CDC and HHS pandemic programs, not 50%.
China went into total lockdown on Day 12, so it took about 15 days after that for case growth to flatten. Even assuming the US ‘kind of’ went into a self-imposed lockdown this weekend, the chart shows we’re still not going to level off until after 100,000 cases or so if we follow China. Still, we’re talking a dumb, rather meaningless trajectory chart. Anything can still happen in Clown World at this point – we may not be done being exceptional.
