Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) announced in the late hours of May 1 that its “behind enemy lines units” had attacked a unit of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the northern Lattakia countryside.
The terrorist group’s new network, Iba’a, claimed that four personnel of the army’s 11th Border Guards Regiment were killed in the attack, which targeted a military position near the village of Nibh Almur.
A Syrian military source confirmed to SouthFront that HTS fighters attacked the SAA position near Nibh Almur. However, the source said that the attack was successfully repelled, claiming that no Syria service members were killed or injured.
HTS’ behind the enemy line units are operating within the demilitarized zone around the northern governorate of Idlib. This is a direct violation of the Russian-Turkish agreement, which was reached last September.
Syrian and Russian warplanes have been pounding terrorists’ positions in Idlib and its surroundings for more than a week now, in what appears to be a last attempt to inforce the Russian-Turkish agreement.
