Al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) claimed on January 16 that its members had recaptured the town of Abu Jurayf in southeast Idlib.
Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its allies from al-Qaeda’s Ansar al-Tawhid reportedly imposed control of the town in a successful counter-attack. The town was captured by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the early morning.

Iba’a, HTS’ news network, claimed that more than ten Syrian service members were killed in Abu Jurayf. Furthermore, the network said that a 23 mm machine gun, and several anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) were seized.
Syrian and Russian warplanes as well as the SAA artillery are now pounding Abu Jurayf’s surroundings, targeting the militants and their equipment.
The SAA will likely recapture the town in the upcoming few hours. According to pro-government activists, the army is preparing to develop its ground operations in southeast Idlib and further.

Mustafa you should know better, HTS aren’t the moderates, they’re the designated terrorists, have you forgotten that your boss Erdogan had them designated as a terrorist organization last year, which brough Turkey in line with every other nation that already had HTS designated as terrorists for years, oh well at least he caught up eventually. Not for long hopefully, because as the article said, “The SAA will likely recapture the town in the upcoming few hours.” And since previous situations have always proven the assertion above correct, I’m pretty confident they will recapture the town easily and quickly. And doesn’t this sound like wonderful news, “According to pro-government activists, the army is preparing to develop its ground operations in southeast Idlib and further.” It’s a great start to the new year if they’re correct.
