Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) [the former branch of al-Qaeda in Syria] is preparing to launch an attack on the city of Maarrat al-Nu’man, the last stronghold of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the southern Idlib countryside. According to the Syrian news outlet Enab Baladi, the radical group wants to seal its control of the key highway linking the governorates of Aleppo and Hama.
“HTS wants to complete its control of the international highway by focusing on the city of Maarrat al-Nu’man, which is the only area on the highway that’s out of its control,” an unnamed source in the FSA told Enab Baladi on December 2.
According to the source, HTS is massing its forces around Maarrat al-Nu’man. In response to this move, the Turkish-backed National Front for Liberation (NFL) deployed more troops inside the strategic city.
“According to the NFL’s own experience, HTS’ movements indicate that it is preparing to launch an attack,” Enab Baladi quoted Mohamad Adib, a member of the NFL media office, as saying.
HTS’ plans to impose control of Aleppo-Hama highway is likely another attempt to sabotage the Russian-Turkish demilitarized zone agreement. Under the agreement, which was reached on September 17, the highway should be reopened with protection from Turkey, Russia and Iran.
There is not such a thing like “sbotage.” Russia-Turkey agreement has been a wonderfukl deal for the terrorists to be stronger, better equipped, and having the possibility to attack Syria people and army whenever they want.
Russia must stop playing peace game with Erdogan just because there are strong economical and commercial deals between them. Russia must continue supporting SAA offensive in Idlib, Afrin and Al Tanf. Russian never made with Hitler peace negotiation when Germany occupied Russia during WWII ¿ am I wrong ?
Absolutely right, allowing Erdogan to occupy Syrian land as a safe haven for his various terrorist groups guarantees the final destruction of what is left of Syria. Score so far Syrian people down 500,000 souls and counting.
Well at least let the HTS and FSA kill each other first.
That’s it you morons bunch up and make it easy for the SAA to pound you into oblivion with their artillery and the Russians to pound you with their jets, that’ll make it even easier for the FSA to come straight in afterwards and butcher you all with butchers knives. It’s going to be a bloodbath here for HTS, they should be praying a Russian bomb takes them out early before the FSA gets to them, or maybe just stay at home where they are. When the FSA have finished butchering the HTS fighters I’m sure they’ll think it’s all over, but it wont be, that’s when the SAA artillery and Russian jets will start bombing them, and the SAA will come in straight afterwards with their butchers knives.
