Al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) repelled early on December 12 a new counter-attack by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the southeastern Idlib countryside.

Units of the SAA attempted to storm al-Katibat al-Mahjura, which was captured by HTS around 24 hours ago. However, the terrorist group’s fighters held their ground and pushed Syrian troops back.
Iba’a, HTS’ news network, released photos showing SAA troops withdrawing from the outskirt of al-Katibat al-Mahjura, after failing to storm it.

A day earlier, HTS foiled a similar counter-attack by the SAA. The terrorist group claimed that up to 25 Syrian service members were killed or injured around al-Katibat al-Mahjura.
Al-Katibat al-Mahjura [the abandoned base in Arabic] is a former Syrian air defense base, which overlooks HTS-held Umm al-Tinah.
By limiting its operations around Idlib, the SAA allowed HTS and its allies to fortify their positions and reorganize their troops. This situation will not likely change, unless the army launches a large-scale operation in the region.

Only Russia saved Syria. Hizbullah and the other Iranian militias were losing until the Russian intervention. But don’t let the facts confuse you. In any case, you will hate Russia and Putin.
The role of Hezbollah in this “war” was very clear from the beginning and was aimed primarily at protecting the Lebanese border and preventing the west of Syria from falling into the hands of the terrorist by lunchingoffensive operations. Most of the defending have been left to the SAA. As for Iran, it supported the Syrian government only with weapons, ammunition, training / organizing the Syrian army and supported them financially / politically. These other Iranian militias came later after ISIS appeared and even with that, they were in very small numbers. And I don’t know why someone would say that Russia did not save Syria, even Ali Khamenei said that Syria could not have been saved without Russian intervention. Everyone had a role to play!

According to Syria, they are trying to resolve the situation first peacefully and a huge campaign to free Idlib is unrealistic because a step forward would push civilians from the front lines to the areas occupied by the Turkish backed terrorists and that could play in the hand of the Turkey to use them as a pretext for annexation or to further delay the conflict. “Russia saved Syria”, I would say it was the Russian alliance with the Axis of resistance to weaken US influence and it’s proxies in syria. Russia’s first role was to take care of the air power and let the ground fighting to the axis of resistance.
