Hundreds Of Syrian Mercenaries Returned From Libya: Monitoring Group

Illustrative image.

More than 1,400 Turkish-backed Syrian militants have returned from Libya, where they fought for the Government of National Accord (GNA), the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on September 26.

The UK-based monitoring group said the Syrian militants returned from Libya after fulfilling their contracts. All of them were fully paid. Previous reports revealed that the militants were promised up to $2,000 a month.

Turkey has deployed more than 18,000 Syrian militants, including 350 children, in Libya since last year to support GNA forces.

Syrian militants participated in a series of attacks against the Libyan National Army (LNA). Their support enabled GNA forces to make significant achievements in western and northwestern Libya earlier this year.

Now, after the implementation of a nationwide ceasefire in Libya, many militants are returning to Syria. According to the SOHR, 8,500 militants have returned to their country, thus far.

The GNA and the LNA are today closer than ever to a political settlement. Russia and Turkey are reportedly facilitating peace efforts in Libya by working to withdraw all foreign fighters supporting both sides.

The usual bullshit of Osama Suleiman (aka Rami Abdulrahman) who produces disinformation on behalf of MI6, after years of being exposed it would be the case not to mention it again.

Jens Holm

fayez chergui

‘the GNA and the LNA are today closer than ever to a political settlement’ … hello?

That’s MY takeaway … full stop

Both sides don’t have the resources or the will to see this through … eh?

Waiting for a better time seems the prudent attitude … hello?
