Several groups of the Turkish-backed National Front for Liberation (NFL) alliance, which is based in the opposition-held areas in Aleppo and Idlib, will participate in the upcoming Turkish military operation against US-backed forces in northeastern Syria, the news outlet Enab Baladi revealed on December 15.
Citing a NFL official, the Syrian pro-opposition news outlet said that several groups of the alliance are preparing to participate in the operation, including the Elite Army and the Sham Brigade.
“We in the NFL support an operation in eastern Euphrates against terrorism and separatist factions like the PPK [Kurdistan Workers’ Party] and the PYD [Democratic Union Party],” Enab Baladi quoted the unnamed official as saying.
The NFL is the biggest coalition of Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups in the opposition-held areas in northern Syria. The group was formed on August 1 after pressure from Turkey, according to Syrian opposition activists.
Turkey is clearly working to form a large force of Syrian militants to spearhead its upcoming attack on the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). According to some sources, the force will consist of more than 15,000 militants.
Heads up -“TASS: Turkish military will coordinate an operation in Syria with the US – Erdogan’s representative”
As I was saying……………… nothing in ME is carved on stone
Haha. Cannon- fodder. They are well- named as bashi bazouks!
What audacity to call the YPG “separatist factions” as if the Turco’s own group isn’t one as well. Rain hot lead on these Turco alphabets!
The NFL’s turning into a Turkman army now, not really a Turkman Arab army anymore, most of the Arabs have stayed under the HTS umbrella and most of the Turkman have moved to Erdogan’s side, not all, just most. The SDF started off mainly Kurdish, then after Erdogan’s invasion of Idlib they started incorporating more and more Arabs, when Erdogan invaded for the second time, they started incorporating Turkmen, Christians and minority groups into the SDF as well, now the SDF is as close to multicultural as it can be. But I think that may turn out to be a problem for the US, the Turkmen don’t mind killing Isis for the US, but I don’t think they’re going to like killing their Turkman brothers fighting for Erdogan, it could get quite messy. I don’t know if I’d be trusting my Turkman comrades to watch my back in any fighting against the NFL, they’d be just as likely to shoot me in the back and then switch sides. I’m not saying all of them [though it’s possible], just some of them. The SDF was a reliable fighting force when it was predominantly Kurdish, well trained, battle hardened and they all fought for a common cause, but they don’t now. Lets see how good this new multicultural army is, and how reliable they are, oh hang on, we already know, we’ve been watching them in action at Hajin for the last 2 months, does anyone else think they’re up to the task, I have my doubts.
Not quite following your post. Why are Turkmen joining SDF? Thought Turkmen sided with Erdogan so they should be fighting SDF?
http://www.kurdistan24.net/en/news/81c84cfb-2543-4917-80b7-6da5f9ef5580/VIDEO–Brigade-of-Syrian-rebels-joins-Kurdish-led-SDF There are many more articles about other groups of Turkmen joining the SDF too. I keep saying it, THE KURDS HAVE BEEN ON STRIKE FOR 2 MONTHS, more now. With the Kurds refusing to fight at Hajin the US has been recruiting heaps of Arabs and training them to take their places. But there aren’t enough pro US Arabs [they’re more likely to be pro Assad], so the US then started recruiting Christians and other minorities to the SDF, but they don’t have the numbers and are reluctant to fight anyway. So now the US is dredging the bottom of the barrel in desperation and recruiting the very guys they’ve up until now avoided recruiting, the Turkmen. Turkmen make up nearly half the population of the northern parts of Aleppo/Ar Raqqah and Al Hasakah, there’s just as many of them as there are Kurds I think, at least in the northern areas. As to why they’re fighting for the US, it’s the usual reason, the US made then an offer too good to refuse. Cheers.
$$$$$$$$$$$$
If all it takes is money to get Turkmen to stab Erdogan in the back then he has already lost since US always wins the money war.
That’s true for anyone but the true believers, the true believers are behind Erdogan all the way, and he has lot’s of true believers, but it only takes one unbeliever to stab you in the back.
If they all blow each other to smithereens they will have done the world a service. The more of them wipe one another out, the better. Damascus, Moscow, Tehran and Beirut can rest when these fuxxers have done us all a favour but American, British & French Forces embedded with Kurds in SDF had better catch the next medevac out of there unless they want to leave in body bags.
