At least 14 Syrian soldiers killed in Damascus blast
There’s been terrorist attack in the center of the Syrian capital Damascus. Two explosive devices went off at once at the moment when the Syrian army bus drove past the presidential palace near the Rais Bridge over the Barada River, not far from the Dama Rose Hotel and the National Museum of Damascus.
The first explosive device went off at about 6:30 local time, after 50 meters the second detonated. At this time, there are many people in that area – the locals go to work.
A bus belonging to a military transport company left the company’s garage in the Baubat Midan area in the direction of Mazze 86. The bus was carrying company’s employees.
Regarding to the local TV channel, 14 servicemen have died and at least three other people have been wounded. The officials declared the incident a terrorist attack.
The sappers of the Syrian army managed to defuse the third explosive device at the site of the bus explosion.
So far, no terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the blast.
This is the first major casualty attack in Damascus in several years. The latter was committed in 2016 and 2017 in the south of the Syrian capital in the Shiite quarter of Seyid-Zeinab.
