As the Eastern Qalamoun region north of Damascus is almost fully secured after a major part of militants has withdrawn from the area, the battle for the Yarmouk refugee camp area in southern Damascus is still ongoing.
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies (a full list of the units involved) have made a minor gains in the northern and southern parts of the militant-held pocket. Governmetn forces have been able to outflank the district Mezquita and to reach the district of al-Taqaddom in the southern part of the pocket.
The advance was intensely supported by strikes carried out by the Syrian Arab Air Force and the SAA’s artillery. Despite this, government troops haave achieved only a limited progress.
The Yarmouk refugee camp and the nearby areas are a densely populated urban area that limits the usage of military equipment and artillery for advances. According to local sources, the SAA is still involved in negotiations with the local ISIS leadership in order to force the terrorists to withdraw to the Homs desert. This would help to avoid additional civilian casualties. However, if ISIS members avoid accepting the deal, they will be eliminated.

GOE SAA!!!
SAA and their allies should advance from the left side of the Yarmouk pocket. At the right side of the pocket are rebels and from the left side should be SAA. Advance from the middle is like to reconcile between two separate groups which will hinder SAA advance.
You just said that 14 minutes prior. Why are you repeating the exact same thing? Seeking attention like a fucking retard, probably because you don’t get much human interaction in the real world.
Definitely a sign of low intellect and deep psychological problems. You mustve have had a bad childhood
SAA army and their allies should use telescopes from the top of the hills to find the potential targets and then pass information to the other groups on the ground to hit. They should never use tall buildings and towers due to mines under the buildings. Drones with high resolution zooming cameras can also do this job but vulnerable to enemies targets.
Thanks for the military advice Mr arm chair general. Your “telescope” idea is the dumbest shit I have heard yet on this board. First of all there are not sufficiently many hills close by to put a fucking telescope on. You don’t know the first thing about how telescopes work #1. #2, The closest “hills” are so far away in the Damascus countryside that any sort of high powered telescope would be rendered useless due to particulate pollution and haze.
Thankfully the SAA or any respectable army in the world isn’t taking points of advice from isolated autistic internet trolls like “Rob”.
In four weeks from now, it should be pretty much over. My take on it.
They used Tyulpan ? They shouldn’t.
I hope the pockets Yarmouk, Rastan and ISIS will be cleared of all US and UK backed terrorists before July 2018. The next will be Daraa, Golan Heights and Al-Tanf before 2019 The last will be the Turkish, US and UK held Syrian lands in 2019. In 2019 the Syrian war will end.
70% land of Syria has been liberated from US and NATO terrorist forces. This is nightmare for them. Now they see their worst defeat in Syria. East Ghouta and Eastern Qalamoun have been liberated from US and NATO terrorist forces. Now they see that Yarmouk and Rastan are just two week job for SAA and their allies.
SAA and their allies should advance from the left side of the Yarmouk pocket. At the right side of the Yarmouk pocket there are anti ISIS rebels and from the left side is no force so SAA should advance from left side of the pocket.
ROFL. You’re not even on the fucking ground. You’re sitting alone in a room looking at some map and commenting on war strategy. My god you must be a fucking retard. There’s multiple reasons that they are choosing to advance from the direction that they are, and they are likely far more privy to relevant information for how to conduct combat on the ground that a clueless highly opinionated infant with Aspergers like “rob”.
Why the insults? Just offer a better perspective.
Sorry, I’m not an armchair general. I wish the SAA the best in their efforts to cleanse the country of radical Islamist scum, to pressure the invaders out and to re assimilate the kurds. But I am not going to sit there and pretend like I know jack shit about military tactics about a war that I am not even fighting in and am nowhere near the front lines of. I certainly have some geopolitical views and a fairly well grounded understanding of the conflict overall, but it would be the epitome of arrogance for me to think that I can offer some “perspective” on military tactics.
Contrast that to some of the morons here who apparently have very strong opinions on just about everything, including issue and topics they don’t even have basic knowledge of or exposure to. I’m merely calling these pieces of shit out for their bullshit.
US, UK, France and Saudis are directly dirty in Syrian war.
Erdogan has came out from US/NATO block because they have lost war in Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen etc. and have exposed in Palestine. Russia have started building six nuclear power plants in Turkey. One plant will start production in 2022 with capacity 24 Giga Watts and remaining are underdeveloped. Turkey have purchased S400 air defence system and the delivery will start in 2019. Russia and China will develop nuclear and industrial zones in Turkey. That is why now it is very difficult for Turkey to keep US and NATO forces and their spies on their own land. The future belong to Asia not to US and Europe.
Every time a pocket is closed down (and how many have we seen closed down in the last year!!!) getting human intel from Syria becomes harder and harder for the countries/agencies that launched the attack. Soon they can only rely on the eye in the sky. About time.
