On February 17, Turkish forces destroyed a truck of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the northern Raqqa countryside, which is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
According to the Rojava Media Center, Turkish-backed militants targeted the truck, which was parked between the villages of Beir Kino and Beir Ketik, with an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM). The truck was completely destroyed. However, no human losses were reported.
SAA units, which were deployed in northern Raqqa to monitor a ceasefire between Turkish forces and the SDF, didn’t respond to the attack.

Following the ATGM strike, Turkish forces shelled the outskirts of the SDF-held town of Ain Issa in northern Raqqa. The shelling didn’t result in any losses.
Turkish forces have been carrying out attacks in northern Raqqa for a few months now. These provocations are being monitored by the Russian Military Police, which are deployed along with the SAA.
The recent Turkish attacks in northern Raqqa violate agreements Turkey singed with Russia and the US in 2019. These attacks may soon lead to a full-on military escalation between Turkish forces and the SDF.
