On December 18, the Military Informant channel on Telegram shared a photo showing the gun sight of a Russian Mi-35M gunship locked on a U.S. AH-64 Apache attack helicopter.

The photo was reportedly taken during a recent encounter between Russian and U.S. forces in Syria’s northeastern region, where both sides conduct aerial patrols on a regular basis.

The Mi-30M’s GSh-23V 23 mm machine gun is capable of engaging aerial targets. The gunship can be also armed with Igla-V and R-73 air-to-air missiles.

Russia deployed several Mi-35M and Mi-8 helicopters in northeastern Syria last year to support the operations of the Russian Military Police in the region. Russian troops have been observing the ceasefire between the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces and Turkish forces.

This year there were many dangerous encounters between the Russian Military Police and U.S. forces in northeastern Syria, especially in northern al-Hasakah. U.S. forces have been actively working to limit Russian forces’ freedom of movements in northeastern Syria. In spite of this, Russian forces are fulfilling their missions and expanding their presence in the region.

Good heli with transport spec. but how they couldnt mount 30 mm like in Mi-28 Nm?

Rhodium 10

Export version have 30mm..because that caliber is widely used…while 23mm for double gun is widely used in Ex Soviet Republics…

The Objective

Useless post. Just what meaning does this convey to anyone?

Jesus

Air to air capability, unlike Apaches used for ground strike.

Jesus

Igla and R73 on Mig35 would shoot down drones as well.

Kenny Jones ™

Verba is the new Igla and can even take down warplanes if operated the right way

The Objective

That capability still exists only on paper. They have to prove it on the battlefield. I won’t accept any more Russian capability that has not been proven on the battlefield.

Ashok Varma

Russian weapons defeated you Pakistanis 4 times and as recently as 1999 in Kargil. Ever heard of Vietnam in your Balakot madrassa?

The Objective

Maybe, but the Bayraktars gave your most modern Pantsirs a beating. From now onward, rising powers will catch up rapidly with the enormous tech gap the Christian world gave the rest of the world. Advancements in tech would allow countries like Turkey to build perfect missile tech in a fraction of the time it took countries like Russia. What you achieved after 30 years could be achieved in 5 years.

Jim Allen

Then explain the reason this achievement has not been achieved 6 times over. Turkey is so technologically advanced in perfect missile technology it bought S-400. Clearly, Russian missile tech advancements are much more highly developed, and detailed during the 30 year’s it’s taken to perfect their unique capabilities. These capabilities have allowed Russia to repay it’s debt to Central Bank, and to have the bank removed from the country entirely. While Turkey is noticed for its Paprika export industry.

Jesus

When proven on the battlefield, it will be too late to make adjustments

Kenny Jones ™

If only he sneezed..

Assad must stay

hahaha

Jon

Putting the cross hairs on a target is simple and taking a photo of that is simple. What is the purpose of the post? If the Rusky shot down an American Apache, there would be extensive unpleasantries suffered on both sides.

Syria north of M-4/M-5 is or will be Turkey. Syria east of Euphrates is or will be Kurdistan.

The Ruskies and the IDF should make common cause and expel the Iranians.

Assad doesn’t need more than what’s left after that.

zman

The Ruskies should let the Syrians shoot down Israeli jets. Russia’s standing the world over would double overnight. As for the crosshairs… If the Russian chopper actually did ‘lock onto’ the Apache, the Americans would know it. It would be ‘message received’…similar to a fighter jet rolling over and showing his missiles. Turkey has it’s hands full and will be leaving Syria soon enough.

Ashok Varma

Not declaring a No fly Zone over Syria was a strategic mistake and gave the US an opportunity to invade Syrian oil fields and plunder its wealth. Oil theft from Syria is now a large part of CIA terrorism budget. It is quite surprising that Syria and Russia are not targeting the daily oil theft convoys that move into Turkey where Erdogan’s family facilitate the sale with ISIS partners. At the least the roads should have IEDs on them.

Vox Populi

LOL

IMHO

So a helicopter pilot saw another helicopter. Big deal. I see helicopters all the time.

Jaime Galarza

You’re not a gunship.

IMHO

I identify as an Attack Helicopter. LOL.

Lone Ranger

Just a friendly reminder to isis air force so they won’t mistake generousity it’s with weakness ?

However Trump has extensive military experience:

Willing Conscience (The Truths

You can’t gain military experience if you’re not starting any wars, and Trump hasn’t started any wars at all, he just ends the ones they’re already fighting and skillfully avoids new ones. Which means he’s has less military experience than any of the US presidents over the last 60 years, and some of us think that’s actually a good thing.

Ashok Varma

Actually, it was Trump who escalated the occupation of eastern Syrian oilfields to pay for the war. Trump has never had any military experience and was a draft dodger, like Clinton and Bush Jr. He also initiated illegal US assignations around the world, including the Iranian general Soleimani in Iraq and inviting him for peace talks..

Willing Conscience (The Truths

He wanted to pull his forces out of Syria and he tried 3 times to do exactly that. The Syrian oil makes the US 120 mill a year and it costs them 1.5 bill to stay in Syria, 10 times what they make from the oil, no wonder the business man in Trump wanted to pull out. I’m happy he was a draft dodger and avoided joining the military, that’s why I think he avoids starting wars now. And illegal US assassinations started long before I was even born, I don’t agree with them in any form for any excuse or reason, so I won’t defend Trump on that matter, though I’m sure there have been less assassinations during Trumps term in office than there were under Obama’s, Bush’s or Clinton’s.

HiaNd

I recognize equipment he has ! He was trained in the same military academy as I did :))……

Willing Conscience (The Truths

That’s a photo of the man who just gave himself and his whole family a lifetime immunity form criminal prosecution. And he wont be picking up the next little baby as easily as he is this one, the next one is full size and fully grown, so I’m sure he won’t be able to pick up Biden as easily to show him off, he ways a ton compared to this cute little baby.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

I’m pretty sure this photo doesn’t show a target lock at all, just the direction the sight/gun is pointing. And are they trying to make the US pilots jumpy by showing this photo, if they are it might backfire when one of them shits his pants and shoots back by accident.

Kalash

woooow first time in history a MI35 finally able to lock on close AH64 apache!!!! pfffff hahahahah

AG Korvin

Its gun sight, not lock-on, but nevertheless.
