In Photos: ISIS Executed Two ‘Spies’ In Egypt’s Sinai

On April 10, ISIS announced that its cells in the Sinai Peninsula had executed two local men who were spying for the Egyptian military.

The terrorists shot both men in the head. They even made one of the victims dig his own grave before executing him on the spot. The terrorist group’s news agency, Amaq, shared a video of the horrendous execution.

This was not the first execution by ISIS in Sinai. Earlier this month, the group’s cells executed a pro-government tribal fighter in the area of al-Burth to the south of Rafah city in the northern part of the peninsula.

ISIS cells have been waging an insurgency against Egyptian government forces in Sinai since November of 2014. Over the last few years, the group’s activities in the peninsula saw a slow decline.

On April 11, the group released photos of its fighters in Sinai going about their daily chores, which include praying and guarding their hideouts.

ISIS recent media releases from Sinai are meant to immediate the locals as well as to exaggerate the group’s influence and presence in the peninsula.
