The Turkish Army has deployed at least one additional Atilgan PMADS (Pedestal-Mounted Air Defence Missile System) to the militant-held area in the Syrian province of Idlib. Over the past months, Turkey has notably increased its military presence in Syria’s Greater Idlib by deploying additional artillery guns, battle tanks and even air defense systems. These moves by Ankara demonstrate that it’s planning to protect terrorists hiding in the area at any cost.

Can’t believe Erdogan shoved 1000 vehicles in Idlib without having a secret deal with Putin.

Ronald

Certainly looks like the Turkish are planning to stay.

SteLe

They ALWAYS plan to stay. Historically, and in those times. For the Turks, all of MENA and even Europe is theirs. And they even state this openly. The occupied Syrian areas are already integrated into Turkey; Turkish language, schools, mosques, currency… No wonder Assad is so hellbent on taking the occupied areas back, and resisting to just accept the occupation and make nice with Erdoğan. He learned his lesson when he let Turkish and Qatari into Syria years before the war in the hope for their investments. What followed was the Islamist insurrection, and when he is now pressured to again open his country to get investments to those forces who supported the terrorists, he is not naive as some of his backers are. Only through own strength with Syria be liberated and rebuild. Not by hoping that Turks, Qataris and others would finally become anything other than greedy power hungry Islamists. And now with Turkey and US firmly supporting each other in Syria and Lybia, Erdoğan is in a position of strength.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

I’d say phase 1 of Erdogan’s plan is just about over, maybe now we’ll get to see what his phase 2 entails. It’s 3 years until the next Turkish election and Erdogan’s predicted to lose that election in a landslide, everyone says that even Erdogan himself, so who’s going to win if Erdogan and the AKP loses? It’ll probably be the CHP in charge of a coalition government but it doesn’t really matter who it is so long as it isn’t the AKP under Erdogan. Every single one of the Turkish opposition parties is opposed to Erdogan’s interventions in Syria and want Erdogan to stop escalating hostilities, so when they win [whoever it is] the next election they’ll start pulling Turkish forces out of Syria and patch things up with Assad immediately, they’ll come to a mutually acceptable political solution and everything will go back to square one. So what’s the point of everything Erdogan’s doing if it’s all going to be scrapped in 3 years time, even less if they hold early elections, it all seems pointless. But if a war started between Turkey and Syria there wouldn’t be an election in 3 years time, Erdogan would be able to delay elections until the end of the war, which would mean the war would only end when Erdogan wanted it to end, which would probably be the same time his AKP parties popularity level had climbed back to positive numbers, which they’re not in now. I hope I’m not being cynical when I say this, but I’m scared phase 2 of Erdogan’s plan has something to do with keeping himself in power in Turkey, all he needs is an excuse, though I’m sure if he doesn’t get one he’ll make one himself.
