In Photos: Turkish Army, Russian Military Police Reach Jisr Al-Shughur In Another Joint Patrol

On July 7, the Russian Military Police and the Turkish Army conducted a one more extended patrol along the M4 highway in southern Idlib. The patrol started near Saraqib and covered about 66km reaching Bidama in the western countryside of Jisr al-Shughur. This town is a well-known stronghold of the al-Qaeda-linked Turkistan Islamic Party. The group is also allied with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda).

Turkey has apparently found at least a partial understanding with al-Qaeda-linked groups in Greater Idlib. This allowed it to facilitate the implementation of joint patrols in the framework of the March agreement with Russia.

Sadly , the stupidest thing ever. Russia is simply trying to show it is in control but it isn’t. Not there and not at this time.

I don’t know why it did not help SAA kill more Turks in Idlib or starve out those Turk observation forts that are still increasing in number. In the end ,Turkey has a new ” occupied-Cyprus” and Russia either helped it or was fooled.

Wizzy

Russia and Turkey have significant economic ties like nuclear energy, military equipment sales and a NATO member ”friend” that is a significant contributor to the block and yet has always been a weak link. This kind of thing needs sensitive management, more like how you manage your wife at home. Sometimes you appear to be losing but you both stay happy.

Lone Ranger

Good job. Peace is good for the business. Watch out for CIAisis false flags tho. Better safe than sorry…

occupybacon

Putin medling with Turks to keep Latakia and give up Idlib.

Lone Ranger

Turks and the U.S. are the ones meddling in Syria.

occupybacon

There are more than those. Hiwever Putin sending few bmp’s to patrol with the Turks is meant to stop SAA to push for Idlib.

Lone Ranger

Indeed, Kurds, UK, France, Israel, Saudis. Half of idlib is already under SAA control. It’s only a matter of time now. Russia is calming all sides, meanwhile CIA and mossadisis are getting neutralized one by one.

occupybacon

You said it. Russia is calming all sides. So Turkey can kedp Idlib.

Lone Ranger

Part of it. For now…

occupybacon

Why for now, is Erdogan busy in Libya?

Lone Ranger

Will be. Aside from them coups do happen… Remember who saved his ass last time? Guess who will save it next time? Nobody.

occupybacon

Why not, Turkey has good trade relations with Russia.

Lone Ranger

Indeed. But you may misunderstood me. Russia wont do the coup. They only will lay back and not help save his ass this time.

occupybacon

No, I didn’t. If NATO does the coup the next one will be more anti Russia so Putin will still save Erdogan just in case.

Cromwell

Whats the point of this bullshit? those terrorists are still festering in Idlib,i hope that area of Syria doesn’t end up like Northern Cyprus under Turkish occupation for decades, the Syrians should settle or nothing less than full liberation of their land.

Joaquin

I think unless there are huge developments in other fronts (for Turkey), Idlib will remain a stalemate with occasional clashes but not a real offensive by the SAA since Turkey has already over 60(!) outposts and bases. Libya doesn’t seem like a place where a major development against Turkish interests may happen anytime soon since there has been some kind of understanding of each side’s red lines and Haftar wouldn’t have the strength on his own to make a difference anyways.

Now that the Houthis are making simultaneous advances in different fronts and performing what it seems to be a pincer movement very close to Ma’rib (Islah Party, Muslim Brotherhood) we may hopefully see a Turkish overstretch
