The US military reports (source):

Airmen and aircraft from across Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson participated in a “Moose Walk” and integrated training event here and at the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex, or JPARC, May 5.

The “Moose Walk,” more commonly referred to as an “Elephant Walk,” was so named to pay homage to both Alaska’s unique wildlife and to the C-17 Globemaster III, often nicknamed “The Moose.” This event showcased the 3rd Wing, 176th Wing, and 477th Fighter Groups’ readiness and ability to generate combat airpower at a moment’s notice to ensure regional stability.

“Our Airmen are proud to provide world-class airpower for America,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Robert D. Davis, 3rd WG commander. “Events like this, as well as other exercises, provide a visible and meaningful result of the hard work and synchronization required to project airpower. They also demonstrate the U.S. Air Force’s responsiveness, flexibility and global reach.”

Aircraft included F-22 Raptors, C-17 Globemaster IIIs, E-3 Sentrys, C-12F Hurons, C-130J Super Herculeses and HH-60G Pave Hawks.

Alaska Air National Guard’s 176th WG and the active-duty 3rd WG commonly train together; however, this particular event allowed them to see much of this training come to fruition. The 176th, as an associate Guard unit, is one that allows active-duty and Guard Airmen to train and operate together across a variety of mission sets, providing the combatant command more capability and capacity.

“It provides an opportunity for multiple air components to coordinate and build familiarity across organizations and ensure operational synergy,” said Col. Anthony D. Stratton, the 176th WG commander. “This type of event provides a defined objective which gives an opportunity for both our junior and experienced troops to apply their skills, and culminates in an event that visibly presents the results of their hard work.

“It also ensures our competitors and adversaries understand we continue to be extremely capable regardless of the situation or environment we are dealt,” said Stratton. “Despite COVID-19, 100 percent of the 176th WG’s missions, including strategic airlift, air defense, and search and rescue, have been maintained without interruption.”

The pandemic has not impacted the base’s ability to perform North American Aerospace Defense Commands’ homeland defense mission.

“We have maintained our combat lethality and are ready to quickly deploy our capabilities around the globe when needed,” said Davis.

Assad must stay

a few Su-30s will scare the shit outta them lmao

Zionism = EVIL

Actually, a few birds would do the trick too.

Assad must stay

Hahahaha yes I forgot about that

NITRAM28

ummm m8 the Russians lost a SU-30 with both of its pilots to a bird strike so its seems very retarded that you make fun of a F22 about brid strikes even tho it has never chashed due to one.

Assad must stay

Doesn’t matter, it would still scare them

NITRAM28

well yea no shit brids strikes are no joke man any pilot can tell you that.

Assad must stay

I meant the Su-30s

NITRAM28

dosent matter what you ment any pilot can tell you that a brird strike is very dangerous the imount of damage a bird can do to a aircraft going at that speed is massive it can even rip off a control surface.

Assad must stay

US SCARED OF ALL SUKHOIS AND MIGS HAHAHAHAHS!!!

NITRAM28

Then why do sukhois and migs have failed evry time they try to take down US aircraft? The only notable sucsess of MiG’s is in Korea and Vietnam but in all other wars they seem to flop. Why is that?

NITRAM28

also what dose that have to do with a birdstrike?

Martin Petrovski

thats ironic since a russian SU-30SM crashed and killed both its pilots due to a bird strike.

NITRAM28

Why dont you awnser the mans question?

gryzor84

Considering the region, I’d say it would be Mig-31s favorite hunting grounds. There’s nothing like a few R-37s to greet newcomers “mistakenly” venturing around your backyard. After all with all that snow, it’s easy to get lost hey :D

Assad must stay

True that is a fearsome plane as well

gryzor84

True that, and Iranian Mullahs’ 1992 refusal to acquire almost two squadrons worth of discounted Mig-31 that Yeltsin was desperate to then sell to the highest bidder to compensate for a bankrupt Post-Soviet Russia has been haunting their airforce commanders to this very day. Hopefully with the expiration of the UN Arms Embargo they’ll finally get a long range interceptor to supplement than gradually phase out their own heavily upgraded , modified F-14AMs and their homegrown Fakour-90 (digitized version of the good old AIM-54 Phoenix that IDF pilots themselves keep mentioning whenever there’s discussion on an Iran strike.). Now they’ve been begging and getting nothing from the Tzar.

I’m betting on the IRGC airforce finally getting their hands on an initial batch of 45-50 Su-30MKIs that they’ve been craving for the past decade, as these numbers and type keep popping up in every aviation-related publication for some time. The Sepah is determined to get itw own credible and modernized air branch to surpasse the “Nirooh Havahi” which is part of the regular Artesh. that they hate for being more nationalists than religious people… Too bad that darn divide is still plaguing procurement and budget allocation, plus I prefer the Artesh 10 folds to the IRGC and its emphasis on ideology rather than professionalism, that usually get paid higher wages for less efficiency and combat prowess.

Assad must stay

yes why did the mullahs refuse the MiG-31s?

gryzor84

Lack of funds freshly out of a devastating war with Iraq for one, and a lack of interest or trust in that corps as well, since the Mullahs still viewed that branch of the Artesh as a shadow of the once privileged elite intrinsically comprised of pro-Shah officers, a sentiment reinforced because of the Nojeh coup in the middle of the war that was being planned in the airbase of the same name essentially by the airforce, which still counted a significant number of elements still sympathetic to the US.

Assad must stay

what is that situation like today?

gryzor84

They have a couple squadrons of airworthy F-14AM with their homegrown version of the AIM-54 called the Fakour for CAP and long-range interception, a little more than a squadron of Mig-29UBs turned into the SM standard with help from Russia in the past few years, anywhere between 28 to 32 Su-24s for ground-attack mission and penetration raids, + 20 or so modernized Su-22 tested this very day with a brand-new “Fajr-4” PGM, and two squadrons of F4s of various versions for anti-ship and SEAD missions. Overall it’s not so bad and their pilots are known to have rigorous , NATO-style training and flight hours, with 100% Iranian training facilities and infrastructure (simulators etc), but the problem is that no matter the amount of effort and level of ingenuity, there is only so much you can do with 40+ year-old air-frames that comprise today the bulk of the inventory.

Hopefully with the lifting of the UN embargo due this October and that Washington has been trying very hard to shut down , but fortunately encountered silence from Europe and active opposition from both Russia and China. Indeed it seems that the latter two after decades of hesitation and unilateral respect of international law and UN embargos and witnessing a total lack of reciprocity on the US side, now seem keen on finally delivering a few billion-dollar worth of nice and new planes to Iran, entrench their partnership there + agree to a little bit of ToT long requested by Iran as a condition for the purchase, namely the J-10, and the Su-30.

Iran’s air force is the very last Achilles heel in dire need of replenishment and modernization, considering they’ve done a marvelous job at attaining the needed level of industrial capacity for naval shipbuilding and field their very own homegrown frigates, submarines of different classes and their R&D boasts the required level of tech to equip those asset with modern sonars, missiles and torpedoes. Their missile force , ballistic and air-defense do not need introduction anymore, and their ground forces have their own derivations of the T-90 and heavily modernized T-72s , self-propelled howitzers, counter-battery radars, ATGMs for the infantry and small and heavy caliber firearms are commonplace to manufacture by the DoD.

Assad must stay

Very nice how u know all this? Are u iranian

gryzor84

Hey, sorry for the late reply. As for my sources : Exclusively Open-Source publications and dedicated forums with well-informed participants of whom ever claim is supported by many verifiable websites and blogs. One of them is a sub-thread on a Pakistani Defence forum, covering Iran. Here is it , in case you’re interested. https://defence.pk/pdf/forums/iranian-defence-forum.152/

Many thanks mister gryzor :)

gryzor84

my pleasure sir ;-)

Vitex

Big deal. A whole bunch of planes in a row.

cechas vodobenikov

it is well known that amerikan pilots r inexperienced and incompetent—w the exception of their dancing blue pilots—the turnover is rapid…this may change….US airlines may disappear due to covid …perhaps they can smuggle cocaine from Colombia to Miami?

Zionism = EVIL

The stupid bankrupt cunts are dying in the streets like zombie roaches and they are wasting money on this shit. Americunts are dumbest and most ignorant dehumanized cunts on earth.
