The escalation is gaining momentum in the Middle East. In the evening of October 13th, kamikaze drones struck Israeli base in the town of Binyamina-Giv’at Ada in the Haifa district. According to the Israeli military, four Israeli soldiers were killed. The number of injured as a result of the Hezbollah drone strike has increased to 110 people. Taking into account the wounded, these are the largest losses of the IDF in a single attack during the year of the war.
According to the Israeli reports, the strikes were launched by two kamikaze UAVs, onw of which was allegedly intercepted by the air defense forces.
The Hezbollah’s military HQ released the official statement, claiming its responsibility for the attack.
”The IDF gambled and had a bet that killing our civilians and murdering our most important leadership including our greatest martyr Sayyed Nasrallah will deter Hezbollah from being able to avenge their attacks, especially in Beirut. … We have demonstrated through our UAV strikes that we are capable. We hear and see what we need in Haifa,” the report reads.
Hezbollah called the attack near the city of Binyamin retaliation for the Israeli strikes on Beirut on Thursday, which killed 22 people. The target of the attack was the elite Israeli Golani brigade. Firing dozens of missiles, Hezbollah distracted Israeli air defense systems and struck the target with “squadrons” of drones.
The Israeli side admitted that it suffered heavy damage as a result of the attack. The drones struck the crowded dining room. The timing confirms that indeed Hezbollah is well aware of the actions of the elite Israeli forces. The damage confirmed by the footage supposes that the Israeli military is likely hiding the truth and the target came under attack of more than one UAV.
The attack was aimed at further escalation amid the shy glimmer of hope of possible negotiations, while the elections approach in the United States. There is another reason for the promised “retaliation strike” by Tel Aviv against Iran and its allies.
The footage shows the aftermath of the Israeli attack on Aitou in northern Lebanon on October 14th, where 18 displaced civilians were reportedly killed and many others injured.
The situation in the Middle East remains tense. Since the end of September, Israel has been actively launching airstrikes in southern Lebanon and Beirut, destroying Hezbollah’s and civilian infrastructure. The IDF also launched limited ground operations in the border area in southern Lebanon. For their part, Hezbollah fighters conduct daily rocket and drone attacks on Israeli territory.
