Infrared has nothing to do with heat. Thermal imaging and Infrared are two different things.
Infrated and heat are linked by a physic law : the Wien’s displacement law. But there is a important difference between thermal and infrated imaging systems. Infrated use a external infrated source of light (as a flashlight) invisible for our eyes but not for another infrated camera. It’s very easy to detect on a modern battlefield. Thermal cameras can see infrated rays emitted by a heat corpse without any external source of infrated light.
