The new combat footage has emerged, reportedly showing a successful operation by Russian forces against the first Ukrainian stronghold in the Dnepropetrovsk region. The military position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), located in a forested area and defended by eight soldiers, was surrounded in a semi-encirclement and successfully captured.
Ukrainian troops were given the chance to surrender but chose to resist, opening fire. Russian forces then moved to storm the position. The assault began with precision strikes from FPV drones, which breached the entrance to the dugout and forced Ukrainian fighters to escape from the stronghold.
As the defenders struggled to react, Russian stormtroopers advanced into firing range. When the Ukrainians began stumbling out of the bunker, gasping for air, they were met with gunfire. Two of them were heavily wounded, while the rest fled to a nearby fortification. The wounded were finished off with drone-dropped munitions.
Russian assault troops secured the position without a single casualty, marking the first AFU stronghold in the Dnepropetrovsk region to fall under their control. On June 12, the Russian Ministry of Defense declared that Russian forces have officially liberated Alexeyevka and Orekhovo on the South Donetsk front, continuing the mop up operations in last Ukrainian strongholds in the southwestern part of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
The successful advance to the Dnepropetrovsk border was made possible by the skillful maneuvers of Eastern group of forces, which outflanked Ukrainian positions by crossing the Volchya River and striking the enemy’s rear. While forces of the Center group are already operating in the new region after their breakthrough near Orekhovo, units of the Russian 114th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade and other formations have pushed west of Alexeyevka along the river’s right bank. Assault units report that Ukrainian forces in Novoukrainka and Zeleny Kut are now semi-encircled, though sporadic resistance continues.
With Alexeyevka and Orekhovo secured, Russian forces are now pressing into Dnepropetrovsk region, exploiting breakthroughs along the Volchya River. The rapid advances of the Eastern group suggest that further collapses of Ukrainian defense are imminent, paving the way for deeper operations into new territories.
