On September 20, more units of the Syrian Arab Army entered the town of Tafas in the western countryside of Daraa, following the reconciliation agreement that was accepted by the locals last week.

The first batch of SAA soldiers, accompanied by the Russian Military Police, entered the town on September 18.

About 1,500 SAA soldiers of the 16th Brigade were reportedly deployed in the town in order to carry out a combing operation to uncover any hidden weapons, ammunition or explosives. According to the agreement, the SAA will permanently deploy its checkpoints in Tafas and its countryside.

For the third day in raw, former militants have been handing over their weapons. About 400 gunmen have already joined the reconciliation process.

The town of Tafas is known to be one of the main refuges for the local militants. It is the third town in western Daraa to reach a reconciliation agreement with Syrian authorities since the beginning of September. The first town was al-Yadudah and the second was Muzayrib.

However, the reconciliation process in the western Daraa countryside is far from over. The other towns and villages, like Jasim for example, are likely to join the agreement in coming weeks.

I wish they would learn from the past,i didn’t see any armed back up for that convoy, they should have had a Gunship flying overhead in case of attack,i wouldn’t feel safe in a bus.
