The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) continue to sustain losses as a result of the fierce resistance put by the Hamas Movement and other Palestinian armed factions in the Gaza Strip.
On March 16, Hamas’ military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, released video footage showing its fighters blowing up a main battle tank and two armored personnel carriers of the IDF in Madinat Ezahra in central Gaza with rocket-propelled grenades.
The IDF admitted on March 17 that a soldier from the 601st Battalion was seriously injured in recent clashes in central Gaza. The soldier was taken to the hospital for medical treatment, and his family has been informed, it said in a brief statement.
At least 248 Israeli troops since the start of ground operations in Gaza. More than 1,400 others have been wounded, some are still in a life threatening condition.
On the Palestinian side, the death toll from Israeli operations in the Strip has reached 31,645, mostly women and children, according to a statement released by the Hamas-run health ministry on March 17. More than 73,676 others have been wounded so far.
The ministry said in the statement that at least 92 Palestinians were killed and 130 others injured in the last 24 hours only.
“Many people are still trapped under rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” the statement reads.
The number of Palestinian casualties could rise sharply in upcoming weeks if the IDF went on with its plans to attack the southern Gaza area of Rafah, where more than 1,5 million Palestine are reportedly taking shelter. The Israeli leadership approved the military plans, despite facing pressure and criticism from the international community.

what pressure is israel facing from the international community? the us, the uk and the eu are actively supporting israel, the arab sunnis by and large are doing nothing to help the palestinians: many are facilitating israeli trade; and the global south, including russia and china, are offering no opposition beyond rhetoric.
to prove my point israelis set up a land sale fair in montreal earlier this month. the land for sale included illegal settlements in the west bank. the canadian government did nothing. same happened in new jersey. the us government did nothing.

“the global south, including russia and china, are offering no opposition beyond rhetoric” i see where you’re coming from but it’s not that simple. as we all know, israel controls the usa far more tighly than they ever controled palestine, so taking anyovert action against israel means war with the us. therefore most countries who are willing to do something are doing it indirectly. one could say it is not the bravest thing, but avoiding a nuclear war is also common sense.
in the meantime, despite israel succeeding in brutally massacring civilians, on the battlefield they are utterly failing. 5 months into the war and they have achieved 0% of their stated objectives. hamas continues to fire missiles every day, they haven’t recovered any hostages, their tanks are getting popped left and right, and their attempts to hide their losses are failing.
the problem with the us is the neocons and the zionists in the administrations. if you check the origins of the most well known neocons and zionists most of their families fled the russian pogrom in the old polish lithuanian parts of the pale that imperial russia took over. seems to me that their hatred towards russia stems from this period.
and the policies of israel towards the palestinians stem from learned behaviour from the pale only this time the palestinians are the victims and zionist jews the perpetrators.
