On August 24, Iranian media aired footage showing recent live fire tests of the Almas anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) system.
The Almas is a copy of the Israeli Spike family of ATGMs, which are electro-optical guided. In 2020, Iran unveiled an air-launched version of the missile with a range of up to eight kilometers. The following year, the man-portable version was showcased. This version is thought to have a range comparable to the Spike-MR which can engage targets within 2,5 kilometers.
The new test footage shows the man-portable version of the Almas missile hitting a target main battle tank with pinpoint accuracy.
The footage also shows the successful firing of the air-launched version of the missile from a Mohajer-6 combat drone and an AH-1J attack helicopter.
Just like Spike missiles, the Almas have a top-attack feature, which means that it could in theory defeat Israel’s Merkava Mark 4M tank that is outfitted with the Trophy active protection system.
The Almas ATGM has not been spotted outside of Iran, yet. However, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps could transfer these advanced missiles to its allies, like Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Hamas Movement in the Palestinian Gaza Strip, in the near future.

the palestinians deserve some serious fire power.
excellent achievement, bravo.
it would be fricken awesome if hamas were to get their hands on one of these systems.
