On November 21, F-16 fighter jets of the Iraqi Air Force (IQAF) carried out a series of airstrikes on hideouts of ISIS cells in Wadi al-Khas in the northern Iraqi province of Kirkuk.

In a statement, the Iraqi Security Media Cell said that the IQAF carried out the airstrikes after coordinating with the National Intelligence Service and the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency.

The air force released footage of the pinpoint airstrikes, which reportedly claimed the lives of at least three terrorists of ISIS.

On the same day, attack helicopters of the Iraqi Army Aviation Command uncovered and destroyed a hideout where five ISIS terrorists were taking shelter during an armed patrol in the northern province of Saladin.

The IQAF and the military aviation have been very active against ISIS cells in Iraq’s northern region. Earlier this month, a series of airstrikes eliminated a cell made up of five terrorists in the outskirts of the town of Bier Ahmad in Kirkuk.

As a result of the recent air and ground operations by Iraqi government forces ISIS cells are launching less attacks in the northern region, especially in Kirkuk. Just a few months ago, the province one of the hottest spots of the terrorist group’s insurgency.
