The situation in Avdeevka is changing too fast that’s why the reports from the city are coming with some delay. Ukraine confirmed its defeat and surrendered the city. While the mop up operation is ongoing, the Russian military is planting flags in all former strongholds of Ukrainian resistance.
Russian flags appear one after another in different districts of Avdeevka.
The fortress of the Coke Plant has fallen. The Russian 114 Brigade of the 1st Army Corps hoisted the Russian flag over the Avdeevka coke plant, where the Ukrainian grouping, including the notorious 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the AFU (Azov), was hiding.
The footage confirms the withdrawal of the AFU from the territory of the plant and the destruction of the remnants of Ukrainian forces there.
Another video confirmed the full Russian control of the building of the Avdeevka city administration located in the Himik district, which was supposed to become another Ukrainian fortress.
Another Russian flag in the Himik district:
Soldiers of the Russian 35th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 41st Army of the Central Military District, who stormed a large part of Avdeevka, planted the flag over the Avdeevka railway station in the city center.
The Russian 74th Brigade raised the flag over the industrial zone, which was also turned into a fortified stronghold by the AFU:
During their offensive on the city streets, Russian stormtroopers from Siberia were opposed by the 3rd assault brigade Azov, which included mercenaries from Canada and other countries.
Kiev threw its best-trained reserves to Avdeevka, but it did not help to save control of the strategically important city.
The Coke plant and the Himik districts could become the last Ukrainian strongholds in Avdeevka. Various Ukrainian military sources supposed that these two fortresses will not surrender despite the decision to surrender. However, it seems that the Ukrainian military command decided to take away all the troops left in the city.
