The Russian Military Police intercepted on May 2 a U.S. convoy heading to the city of al-Qamishli in northern al-Hasakah.
According to local sources, Russian forces blocked the road leading to the eastern entrance of al-Qamishli with several armored vehicles, preventing U.S. troops from entering the city.
U.S. forces brought in 15 armored vehicles from their bases in the area of al-Rmelan. Furthermore, coalition warplanes flew over al-Qamishli. Nevertheless, Russian forces stood their ground until an understanding was reached.

The Russian move was likely a response to an earlier incident, in which U.S. forces blocked a routine patrol of Russian forces in the al-Rmelan oil fields in the northeastern countryside of al-Hasakah.
This was the first time the Russian Military Police intercepts U.S. forces in northeast Syria. In the last few months, U.S. forces worked to prevent Russian forces from patrolling oil fields in the region. In return, locals and government forces restricted the movement of U.S. forces around al-Qamishli.
Russia is working to solidify its presence in northeast Syria by deploying additional forces and building strong relations with local Arab tribes. The U.S. appears to be concerned by the Russian steps, as it is now trying to reclaim its influence in the region.

The S-300 Syria got has not even been used. Russia has specifically prohibited Syria from using it against anyone. Why? Well because of the followings: 1. Syria received a few batches, certainly not enough to protect its airspace. You need a integrated defence shield in order to fully protect yourself.
2. Israel rarely enters Syrian territory when launching airstrikes, they instead launch from mainly Lebanon or other countries. This is a major dilemma as the neighboring countries lack any air defence to shoot down Israeli planes and the S-300 can not reach other countries.
3. If Syria deployed the S-300 to their borders, they would be able to intercept Israeli planes in Lebanon but there is one problem. You still need an integrated air defence to protect the systems, otherwise they are sitting ducks. Even if they do shoot down Israeli planes, Israel would easily launch a counter attack and destroy it.

It’s already happening. US bases are consolidating in the region as a defensive measure because they know what’s coming. US also started to hand off patrol duties to the SDF, which is a clear indication they are intending to leave.

It is very easy to predict behavior of the U.S. forces. This is because of well established track record of being international bully. And thereby the heart and soul of the coward. Just make a list of those U.S. has picked on since WWII and note the outcome. U.S. will not engage a capable and determined force like Russia or China head to head. Just thought of casualties makes them queasy. But more important to them than casualties is to foster illusion of invincibility. Once the aircraft start going down and pilots are captured, the illusion goes up in smoke. That is their true fear.
