In Video: Russian Military Police Deployed To Guard Ancient City In Southern Syria

On March 17, Alexander Karpov, deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria, announced that the Russian Military Police had completed their deployment in the vicinity of the ancient city of Busra in the southern Syrian governorate of Daraa.

In a press briefing, Karpov revealed that units of the Russian Military Police have been guarding the ruins of Busra city since last February.

Russian service members guard the main landmark of the ancient city, the Roman Theater of Busra. The theater, which is surrounded by several towers built in the Ayyubid era, is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The Syrian Arab Army liberated Busra and its ancient ruins in mid-2018 after an agreement with the rebels, who joined the reconciliation process.

The Russian Military Police played a key role in the reconciliation agreement in Busra, which was expanded to include all opposition-held areas in the eastern Daraa countryside.

Today, the modern part of Busra hosts the headquarters of the 8th Brigade, a unit of the Russian-backed 5th Corps that is made of former rebels.

The deployment of the Russian Military Police to guard Bursa’s ruins reflects the fragile situation in Daraa today. A day earlier, more than 20 Syrian soldiers were killed in a well-planned ambush in the governorate’s western countryside.

Russia defends the historical and artistic heritage in Syria, the Yankees send bearded sub-humans to destroy and plunder it, here is all the difference between the two nations, Russia is civil, the US is greedy and ignorant barbarians.
