The Russian military has once again targeted an American-made MIM-104 Patriot long-range air defense system of Kiev forces.
Video footage posted to social media on February 22 shows three pinpoint strikes hitting warehouses close to the settlement of Chernobaevka in Kherson. A HEMTT 8×8 truck, typically used to tow the Patriots’ M90x Launching Stations, can be seen entering one of the warehouses before the strikes. Russian sources said that a AN/MSQ-104 Engagement Control Station, a key component of the air defense system, was also stored there.
An unidentified precision-guided missile and what appears to be two FAB-500M-62 aerial bombs equipped with gliding and correction modules were used in the attack on the warehouses near Chernobaevka.
Ukraine received three complete batteries donated along with an additional four launchers. Two batteries and two launchers have been donated by Germany and one battery by the United States with an additional two launchers donated by the Netherlands.
The systems supplied to Kiev are said to be a mix of PAC-3 hit-to-kill active missiles to intercept ballistic missiles, with a range of 30-60 kilometers only, and PAC-2 blast fragmentation warhead semi-active missiles to counter aircraft threats with a range of up to 160 kilometers.
The Russian military has targeted components of Ukraine’s Patriot systems more than once. Recently, reports revealed that Kiev forces have integrated the system’s missiles with Soviet-era command and control radars under a program called “FrankenSAM”. This explains how some missiles are still being fired from time to time.
Kiev forces reportedly used a Patriot missile to shoot down a Russian Il-76 military aircraft on January 24, killing more than 60 Ukrainian prisoners of war who were aboard.
Overall, the supply of Patriot systems had no impact on the battlefield. The Russian Aerospace Forces continue to dominate the skies over the special military operation zone. Meanwhile, the remaining air defenses of Kiev forces are slowly collapsing.

dal filmato . . si nota solo il camion hemtt 8×8 e non si sa se il capannone serviva solo da rimessaggio e/o da deposito del patriot. sta di fatto che in prossimità si intravedono altri capannoni similari che non sono stati per niente oggetto di obiettivo satellitare. magari erano proprio lì i veri depositi dei sistemi di difesa aerea a lungo raggio mim-104 patriot.
