Yes but not laser beam riding missiles like Starstreak. You need special anti-laser decoy countermeasure system that interrupts beam or blinds it. This war is allowing Russia to develop adequate countermeasures to defeat Starstreak/other laser beam guided anti-air missiles, but also further improve existing DICM/flares and improve existing jammer pods/ECM.
This conflict is going to set Russia ahead with necessary research and revisions to many levels and facets of their military over the next few decades.

Based on rapid calculus of distance, speed, altitude and rocket range impact the calculator place an aiming crosshair on the pilot viewscreen. off course it’s not like a lock-on missile but a decent firing target system with good results, talking into account the number of the Hydra non-guided missiles which are dozens, cretin.

A NATO trooper would think so, but what would a NATO trooper know about fighting a proper army, they usually send a brigade to fight 1 or 2 Afghans, having the Russian military dropping 60 thousand shells a week on your positions is totally alien to NATO. If you consider that they are doing this in concert with other bombardments from artillery or grads or what have you, then it makes a little bit more sense, throw as much downrange to discourage or keep the enemy in place.
Being surrounded by explosions day in and day out can really fuck with a person’s head, the ATF didn’t even need explosives, they just flew helicopters blasting music day and night at the people of WACO to break them.

so what your ACTUALLY SAYING is that 2 Su-25 jets SUCCESSFULLY EVADED 2 MANPAD MISSILES which were INEFFECTIVE and FAILED to down the 2 jets, this video goes on a lot longer than what is shown, this video was uploaded YESTERDAY and shows BOTH JETS COMPLETING THEIR SORTIES and then firing off chaff and flares when they are leaving the area. So what your CLAIMING here is in FACT FAKE NEWS those 2 SU-25 NEVER FLEED they HIT THEIR TARGETS and then LEFT THE AREA. This reporting is FAKE NEWS. Well technically them offloading rockets and getting the f-out is “evading” in a very general sense, because they did what they came to do and then left before anything bad could happen, and that’s the most reasonable thing they could do.
I’ve seen videos from the Ukro side of what it is like being surrounded by explosions day in and day out and it seems to have an adverse effect even without being hit.
SU-25 all need to be upgraded with MAWS (missile approach warning). Older models do not have these – only newer SU-25SM3 in limited numbers. 90% of shootdowns for SU-25 were from older models without MAWS detectors and they took 2 and sometimes even 4 direct hits from MANPADS. These are very tough strong planes, with proper early warning suites pilots can deploy countermeasures quicker. All SU-25 should be upgraded to SM3 standard.
yes, and su25 are much better than helicopters, because for the most helis one hit is enough to go down. but in future, the drone is the better option, cheaper and without the risk of loosing millions for the plane and the most important, the pilots.
Froggies are definitely good for an upgrade or two but they certainly have proven themselves if they can take that many hits in combat and keep going.

this war shows, due to the high russian losses in ground combat airplanes and helicopters, because ukros get the gepard and thousands of manpads, that drones could do the job much cheaper and without a risk of human losses, because pilots are the most expensive and rarest human military capital.
However, what they do have is probably a lot of rockets these things can use, imagine how many they’ve stockpiled over the years, as long as they can move in, let them off and get out without being hit, it’s still going to have an area of effect on UAF positions as these are people they’re shooting at, and people can be broken if they’re surrounded by explosions day in and day out without end.

You know pre-mission briefings probably explain to the pilots as well as through training how much distance and the relative target area they’re aiming for based on the elevation of those rockets being fired.
It’s clearly a salvo to create an area of effect in a given zone and the pilots would be informed as to how far those rockets travel at a given elevation.
Russia has a shit ton of these most likely and it’s better to use these than to fly into UAF territory and hunt for targets with guided weapons.
This war has turned into something else where planes have less utility because of the anti aircraft threat posed on both sides.
