The Syrian Arab Air Defense Forces (SyAADF) have reportedly shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) south of the country’s capital, Damascus.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the supposed UAV was shot down late on September 19 near the town of Aqraba.
“A UAV was reportedly destroyed over Aqraba in Damascus,” the agency quoted the Syrian state TV reporter as saying.
While these initial reports are yet to be confirmed by the Syrian Ministry of Defense. Syrian activists released a video showing the supposed interception over Aqraba.
Last month, Israeli warplanes destroyed a position of Hezbollah around Aqraba, killing at least two fighters of the Lebanese group. Hezbollah responded to the attack a few weeks later.
The upcoming few hours will likely reveal more information about what exactly happened in southern Damascus.
