Russian and Syrian navies held joint naval drills in the eastern Mediterranean Sea on December 19 as a part of the first joint drills involving the two countries that started on December 16. The drill involved Russian warships and aircraft, as well as missile gunboats and minesweepers of the Syrian Navy. Footage also shows emergency drills being conducted by forces. The goal of the drills is to increase cooperation between the Russian and Syrian militaries.
