On October 20, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) deployed additional troops and heavy weapons at its newly-established positions in the countryside of Raqqa.
A video released by the Syrian state TV shows several battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and hundreds of service members heading towards the city of Tabqah in the governorate’s southern countryside.
Earlier, Syrian sources reported that U.S. forces had completed their withdrawal from Raqqa and the eastern Aleppo countryside. Dozens of trucks loaded with military equipment were seen leaving the last U.S. base between the two governorates.
The SAA’s deployment in northeast Syria began last week following an agreement between the Damascus government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The agreement allows the SAA to enter most of the region in order to counter the Turkish-led offensive.
So far, thousands of Syrian troops have been deployed in eastern Aleppo, Raqqa and northern al-Hasakah as a part of the agreement. The agreement forced Turkey to halt its attacks on the key cities of Manbij and Kobane.
If I was the Syrian government,I will be making call for volunteers to came forward and to also recruitr from the locals.
I think they have been doing just that.
No doubt Raqqa is important, but the Syrian-Iraqi border on the M4 Highway is by far the most important. That is the point of entry the US used “to help the Kurds”. See that it doesn’t get used again.
True. But AFAIK these deployments behind the frontline have also the purpose to lessen the load on the SDF, so the Kurds can push to the front and fight the Turks. Those SAA troops wont be the most valuable anyway from a front line fighting perspective, but they are nonetheless enough to defend Raqqa in case of ISIS attacks like last weeks.
Let me tell you something, don’t ever forget and count out role of PMU on Iraqi border.
And Abu-Kamal’s shiite base (Al-Qaim region), which will be the future Syria’s PMU version, that will help tremendously when they finish with their base building. Of course with IsraHell bombing their base now and then, but that wont stop them.
Al Bukamal is very important and latgely Iraqi and Irani Muslims are stationed there right now not in very large numbers, but soon it will be in huge numbers.
maybe PMU can secure the M4 highway and SAA secures raqqa, or some variant of this
That’s right brothers, keep on doing that great job.
Hey… Isn’t South Front suppose to be a Russian propaganda site? How come no video of the big Russian convoy heading to Tabqa? There’s supposedly a perfectly good 11,000 ft. runway and newly-repaired hangars and bunkers at the just-deserted air base. Might come in handy later for de-head-chopperization ops.
another defeat for the amerikan barbarians
