The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) repelled late on December 27 another drone attack on the Hama airbase in the country’s central region.
According to pro-government sources, the army intercepted and shot down several armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which were on their way to attack the airbase and nearby civilian areas.
The pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) confirmed that the attack attempt didn’t result in any losses.
The attack was likely launched by al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) from Greater Idlib. The terrorist group is reportedly responsible for a series of drone attacks, which started in the beginning of this year.
The Hama airbase hosts several squadrons of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF). Few Russian units are also deployed there. This made the key airbase a prime target for HTS and its allies in nearby Greater Idlib.
the squatters again no doubt – they need to be taken down and push up daisies. nothing else will save the world from the menace the squatters have become.
shutup, antisemite!
Russia should deploy TOR-2MU here like they have at Khmeimim Air Base. It´s way better than Pantsir.
Both systems are junk, the only advanced well made short range air defense system is the Iron Dome. Iron Dome has a 90% success rate, meanwhile these Russkie systems have lower than a 30% interception rate. For God’s sakes, the IDF destroyed 3 Syrian Pantsir systems in the past 2 years using DRONES!
Your % are not real mister … only 2 sa-22 was destroyed by Israel and the two were offline when was destroyed…. The Sa-22 was a super to counter missiles from Israel , US , France and the UK…
just remember folks, the Israeli Airforce used a similar drone to successfully destroy 2 russkie made Pantsir systems! HAHA!
