Units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Russian Military Police conducted on October 26 their first joint patrol on the road linking the border town of Ras al-Ayn with the town of Tell Tamr in northern al-Hasakah.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) released a video of the joint patrol, which was carried out in accordance with the recent Russian-Turkish agreement on northeast Syria.

As a part of the agreement, the Russian Military Police should conduct regular patrols along Turkey’s border with northeast Syria. The SAA is set to establish 15 observation posts on the border line, while Kurdish fighters should withdraw 30km away.

The Ras al-Ayn-Tell Tamr road witnessed a series of clashes between Turkish-backed militants and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the last few weeks. Now the road appears to be fully secured once again.

The Russian-Turkish agreement on northeast Syria appears to be holding for the most part, despite the SDF’s rejection of some of its terms.

Just read a report on AMN News that the SAA have been attacked by Turkish Proxies in the Ras Al Ayn area and that 2 SAA soldiers have been fatally wounded. SAA have yet to retaliate, it is believed they are awaiting clearance from embedded Russian personnel. Can’t find anything on SANA, Press TV, Fars News nor Twitter contacts to verify or deny above….
