On June 10, Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers and pro-government locals intercepted a U.S. convoy that was conducting a patrol the vicinity of the town of Tell Tamr in northern al-Hasakah, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
An army checkpoint stopped the U.S. convoy at the entrance of the village of Dardara. Locals immediately gathered at the scene and stoned the convoy’s vehicles forcing them to retreat.
In the last few months, the SAA and government supporters managed to restrict the movement of U.S. forces in the northern al-Hasakah countryside.
U.S. forces are responding to this situation by harassing the Russian Military Police in northeast al-Hasakah, especially near oil-rich areas like al-Rmelan.
Around 500 U.S. troops are currently present in northeast Syria, supposedly to confront the threat of ISIS and “guard” key oil fields. Lately, the U.S. has been working to solidify its presence in the region.
Serves them right, they roam around thinking they own the place.
