On June 10, US F-22 Raptor fighter jets, supported by KC-135 Stratotanker and E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft, escorted Russian formations entering the NORAD’s Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone.

“The first formation consisted of two Tu-95 bombers, accompanied by two Su-35 fighter jets and an A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft, which came within 20 nautical miles of Alaskan shores. The second formation consisted of two Tu-95 bombers supported by an A-50 and came within 32 nm. The Russian military aircraft remained in international airspace and at no time did they enter United States sovereign airspace,” NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) said.

The Russian military added that Tu-95MS strategic missile-carrying bombers were escorted during their flight over neutral waters near the Russian-US border.

“Four strategic Tu-95MS missile carriers of the Russian Aerospace Forces’ long-range aviation conducted a planned flight over neutral waters of the Chukchi Sea, the Bering Sea, the Sea of Okhotsk and the northern part of the Pacific Ocean … At certain stages of the flight, the Russian planes were escorted by US Air Force’s F-22 fighters,” the Russian Defense Ministry said adding that the flight lasted 11 hours.

AM Hants

Bet Russia regrets giving Alaska to her ungrateful neighbours?

occupybacon

Go take it back

World_Eye

No they don’t Putin himself said, we already have so many cold places and Alaska was descent deal 200 years go or 300 dunno when was sold. But stratigcly today Alaska would be in good hands if it was in Russian hands. But it is what it is.

AM Hants

I know he said that, but, can you imagine the irritation of having the US hissy fits, so close? Bearing in mind on a good day you can walk to Russia from Alaska.

Did Russia ever get the gold, the US sent to complete the sale? Did the ship sink?

World_Eye

Yes as I said today if Russia had Alaska it would have been the highest strategic place for Russia and the US all of their armies would have been there, and NATO would have been useless when you Russia would have bordering with the US and Canada. Worst nightmare for the Americans.

chris chuba

We or the British would have found a reason to take it from them anyway, just like we took Texas and California from Mexico, the Tsar figured might as well get a few pennies for it.

World_Eye

Oh yes Alaska was sold for 11 million dollars back then 200 years ago, don’t know how much is that in today’s money, but I know for sure it was sold for 11 million dollars.

occupybacon

They approached to remind the Russians what year is.

JIMI JAMES

Don’t matter because russia spotted them on radar anyway (period)

occupybacon

And?

Mohammed Mohammed

This website is already dead, nobody cares about Russian military propaganda.

Galvo

The undisputed masters of propaganda are british, americans and israeli. Since the soviet times, russians have always been way behind them in that regard.

vivekananda
