In recent days, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have launched several counterattacks on the town of Peski located on the north-western outskirts of the capital of the Donetsk People’s Republic. So far, they have achieved no results.
The Russian military confirmed full control of the town of Peski on August 13. In the beginning of September, the DPR units ended the mop up operation in the industrial area on the western outskirts of the town. On September 5, assault groups of the 11th regiment of the DPR, with the support of armored vehicles, entered the territory of the village of Pervomaiske from the junction on the ring road south of Peski.
In their turn, inspired by their successes in the Kharkov region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue their attempts to repel Russian units from the town.
During one of the recent attacks, a company of the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to enter Peski from the western direction. They were repelled by the DPR Somalia battalion with the support of artillery of the 11th regiment.
As a result of the failed attack, the AFU fled the area, leaving two damaged tanks and two infantry fighting vehicles and many corpses of dead soldiers on the battlefield.
The military positions of Russian-led forces in Peski are of tactical importance. The stronghold in the town allows the DPR units advance further to Pervomaisky, Netaylovo and Nevelsky, and reduce the threat of daily artillery shelling of civilians in the city of Donetsk.

Numbers of Ukrainian casualties are unimporant because they have 700000 reserves. Also, NATO countries help their numbers with experienced soldiers of their own – Poland alone has sent more soldiers to Ukraine than the losses Ukraine suffered in the counter-offensive, and they can send more anytime.
