In Videos, Photos: Evacuation Of Militants From Rastan Pocket In Syria’s Northern Homs

On May 8, militants opearing in the Rastan pocket in northern Homs continued handing over their heavy weapons to the Syrian Army under a reconsiliation deal reached between them and the government.

According to the state-run media, militants handed over a car equipped with rocket launcher, a car equipped with medium machinegun and a “hell cannon”, a mortar launcher and a cannon, in addition to tanks’ shells and BMP cannon, mines and ammunition.

Over the past few days, militnats have handed over six battle tanks, 3 BMP vehicles, two Shilka vehicles as well as mortars and various kinds of cannons and missiles.

A second batch of miliitants and their families also strated preparations for a withdrawal to the Turkish-occupied part of the northern Syrian province of Aleppo. The first batch of militants and their families left the area by 62 buses on May 7.

That’s a mad max looking vehicle there, I guess it shows what these militants are, nothing but a bunch of barbaric modern day bandits.

I am sure it operates even worse than it looks. :) That is an aircraft mounted launcher for short range rockets. Firing them from standing position would give it even shorter range. Additional bonus is the absence of aiming device. I would like to see a video of them firing this thing. :)

yes, but it’s nothing new. something that has been around since Somali warlords battle in early 90ies, and probably earlier.
