India Accuses Pakistan Of Ceasefire Violations Amid Blasts In Kashmir (Videos)

A series of blasts were reported on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC), the de-facto border in the disputed region of Kashmir, on May 10 afternoon, just a few hours into the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.

The blasts were first reported in the city of Srinagar in India-administered Kashmir, with footage posted online showing what appears to be air defense fire.

“What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar,” Omar Abdullah, chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, said in a post on X.

The sounds of multiple explosions were later heard over the Pakistan-administered part of the region. In videos from the Bhimber district, dozens of explosions can be heard reverberating through the sky in rapid bursts. The explosions were reportedly the result of attacks from the Indian side of the LoC.

Despite the apparent exchange of fire, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said that the country was prepared to engage in “constructive diplomacy” with India, adding in a lengthy statement that it wants to resolve all issues “including the Jammu and Kashmir Dispute, through peaceful means.”

“Despite facing blatant Indian aggression and persistent provocations, Pakistan exercised great restraint. However, it was constrained to respond to ensure the safety and security of its people,” the statement reads.

The ministry also called on the international community to play its part in preventing any further escalations between the two nuclear-armed states.

India, however, responded harshly with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri accusing Pakistan of repeatedly violating the ceasefire.

“For the last few hours there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening between the directors general of military operations of India and Pakistan,” Misri said in a televised address.

“This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today. The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response and take very serious notice of these violations,” the minister added.

The crisis between the two nuclear powers was sparked by the April 22 terrorist attack on Pahalgam in Indian-administered Kashmir. New Delhi blamed Islamabad for the incident. The situation escalated on May 7 following deadly Indian retaliatory strikes against Pakistan.

The early morning of May 10 saw some of the worst rounds of fighting between India and Pakistan during the crisis, with the two exchanging missile strikes across the LoC and the international-recognized border. Casualties and material losses were reported on both sides.

United States President Donald Trump later announced that the two had reached a ceasefire agreement. The Indian and Pakistani foreign minister confirmed the agreement, without attributing it directly to Washington.

The crisis between the two is clearly still far from being over. While neither side appears to be interested in an all-out war, fighting could resume on a limited scale.
