Intense Russian Artillery, Rocket Strikes Targeted Militant Positions In Syria's Greater Idlib

Illustrative image

On July 26, intense artillery and rocket strikes targeted militants positions in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib.

The shelling targeted the following areas:

  • The towns of Deir al-Akrad, Barzah, Khidr, Kafr Didan, al-Alia and Kabani in the northern Lattakia countryside.
  • The towns of Ain La Rose, Almaouzrah, Fatterah, Kansafra, Sufuhon, Fleifel and al-Halubi in the southern Idlib countryside.

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) news agency, Iba’a, claimed that Russian forces had carried out the strikes from Jurin military camp in northwestern Hama and a base in al-Jub al-Ahmar in northern Lattakia. Usually, Russian Special Forces carry out such strikes in response to ceasefire violations.

According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the strikes killed a fighter of the Turkish-backed Ahrar al-Sham Movement.

A day ago, three militants of HTS and the National Front for Liberation were killed and seven others were injured when the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) pounded their positions in southern Idlib.

Recent reports revealed that the SAA and its allies were planning to launch a ground operation in Greater Idlib soon. The militants’ repeated violations of the ceasefire in the region are likely the reason. HTS and its allies are now preparing to confront any attack by the army.

Even if finally a new offensive operation starts, it will continue where it was frozen months ago. Only with an even more prepared Turkish military vastly superior to the SAA. And without direct fire support from Russia on Turkish forces, it will be a very hard task for the SAA. After the Russians killed the 30+ Turks in a single airstrike months ago, Russia backed down from attacking turkish forces in (rightful) fear of a NATO-Russia war. And then the Turks unleashed hell on the SAA with their drones for 3-4 full days, diminishing a huge amount of material and SAA elite forces.

Without Irans support and the Hezbollah special forces, the last operation would have ended in disaster. And sadly now the Turks have an even stronger position. The best we can hope is a limited, fast operation on the M4, but the mountain terrain and Jish Al Jugur will be a hellhole. SAA has tried to crack that line for over 2 years, and always failed. Even Russian air support is next to useless in this area. Those here who see this as a piece of cake have neither a appreciation for the hard work and challanges the SAA faces, nor understand the first thing about this upcoming task. It will be the most brutal and diffcult of all battles in Idlib front, and likely of the whole war since 2015.

“the Turks have an even stronger position”, they don’t and due to its Libya and Azerbaijan insertion have instigated the involvement of Syrian, Egypt, Libya, NATO/Greece and France not to mention Turkey slapping the Orthodox Christians with the physical conversion of the museum of original Orthodox Christian structure to a Mosque.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

“According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the strikes killed a fighter of the Turkish-backed Ahrar al-Sham Movement. So SF is still trying to lump HTS in with all the Turkish backed terrorists, LOL, but one group does deals with the Syrian government and the other group completely opposes those deals, so there’s a really big difference between them now, and HTS alone is the one doing deals with the Syrian government. So when SF rightly tells us the Russians and Syrians have been attacking HTS positions they should also elaborate on which members of the HTS alliance are being attacked, and more importantly the reasons why they’re being attacked. The Russians and the SAA ‘ALWAYS’ attack the Turkmenistan Islamic Party [Uighurs], not other members of the HTS alliance, and even though the TIP are members of the HTS alliance, they’re also at the same time members of the Turkish backed Rouse the Believers Operations Room Alliance, which is unusual to say the least, because both alliances are actually politically totally opposed to each other, so we have one group belonging to 2 opposing alliances at the same time, mmmm. So if you’re made aware of the fact that the TIP are also members of the Turkish backed Rouse the Believers Operations Room Alliance at the same time they’re members of the HTS alliance, does that really change anything at all, maybe not by itself it doesn’t, but then when you also realize that the other members of the HTS alliance aren’t being attacked at all, it’s just the TIP, and then also find out that practically ALL the Turkish backed Operations Room Alliance members are constantly being attacked by the Russians and SAA [the SAA more often than Russia and the US also kills hundreds of them too], does that change anything and everything, it does for me. So instead of SF loosely saying the Russians and SAA are attacking members of HTS, they should instead be saying the Russians and SAA are actually attacking members of the Operations Room Alliance, and then they should elaborate on the fact that TIP are also members of HTS, but then also say that isn’t the reason they’re being attacked, it’s only because they’re members of the Operations Room Alliance, not HTS. And then they should also finally add the Operations Room Alliance is trying to stop HTS from doing any deals with the Syrian Government, only then can you begin to understand what’s really going on.

Assad wants to develop areas near here to increase food production, so this may just be the start of a security operation Assad announced months ago, Gods speed SAA, give the Turkish backed Operations Room Alliance total hell.
