The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s director general for political affairs stated the country’s scientific power allows Iran to produce inter-continental missiles.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s director general for political affairs, Hamid Baeidinejad, said this in remarks published on the Basirat website (linked with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps):
Our country’s power is increasing and today, we have no restrictions in defense fields, as in our missile program, we have no technical limits anymore. Today, our scientific power has provided us the opportunity to even produce intercontinental missiles.
According to Baeidinejad, Iran aims to neutralize enemy threats within the framework of the defensive doctrine.”
We remember, Iran test-fired an advanced rocket system in the Dasht-e Kavir desert last week. Some experts considered this move as a cover for intercontinental ballistic missile research.
The rocket, called “Simorgh”, is alledgedly designed to launch satellites into orbit. However, Western experts argue that the technology involved is “practically identical” to intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) and could be used to launch a nuclear device.
