Just hours after President Trump formally designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps as a terrorist organization, Iran’s foreign ministry has put forward a bill placing US Central Command on a list of organizations designated as terrorists, akin to Daesh.
Today, I am formally announcing my Administration’s plan to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including its Qods Force, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. This unprecedented step, led by the Department of State, recognizes the reality that Iran is not only a State Sponsor of Terrorism, but that the IRGC actively participates in, finances, and promotes terrorism as a tool of statecraft. The IRGC is the Iranian government’s primary means of directing and implementing its global terrorist campaign.
This designation will be the first time that the United States has ever named a part of another government as a FTO. It underscores the fact that Iran’s actions are fundamentally different from those of other governments. This action will significantly expand the scope and scale of our maximum pressure on the Iranian regime. It makes crystal clear the risks of conducting business with, or providing support to, the IRGC. If you are doing business with the IRGC, you will be bankrolling terrorism.
This action sends a clear message to Tehran that its support for terrorism has serious consequences. We will continue to increase financial pressure and raise the costs on the Iranian regime for its support of terrorist activity until it abandons its malign and outlaw behavior.
But, as Sputnik News reports, the Iranian Foreign Ministry responded to the designation on Monday, recommending that President Hassan Rouhani designate US Central Command (US CENTCOM), a US military theatre-level command whose area of responsibility includes the Middle East, on the list of organisations designated as terrorists by Iran.
Previously, the Iranian Foreign Minister noted that those US officials who advocated IRGC blacklisting, “seek to drag the US into a quagmire”.
“#NetanyahuFirsters who have long agitated for FTO (Foreign Terrorist Organisation) of the IRGC fully understand its consequences for US forces in the region. In fact, they seek to drag the US into a quagmire on his behalf,” Mohammed Javad Zarif said on his Twitter account. “@realDonaldTrump should know better than to be conned into another US disaster.”
Iranian officials previously warned that the IRGC’s inclusion on the US terror list would be a “mistake” which would prompt Tehran to equate the US military with Daesh (ISIS). Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, chairman of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said a bill to this effect had already been prepared.

The word / designation ‘Terrorist’ is not just a descriptive – it is a LEGAL TERM under domestic and international laws and aggreements.
If you want to get behind what is going on here you should begin by looking at legal history and the legal aspects of War, firstly considering International Laws and Treaties (plus military conventions and accords), and then domestic laws / acts / etc.
England / Britain was the first nation to use this word in the legal context of stripping undesirable or problematic / militant individuals and groups of ALL rights and ALL protections afforded to them by centuries of International agreements.
The US went further following 9/11. They showed the world how one simple word could (apparently) free them to use violence and murder and commit grave war crimes – yet escape prosecution for WAR CRIMES and prosecution for Incitment to war, prosecution for failure to protect civilian lives, failure to protect civillian infrastructure, failure to take or protect Prisoners of War, and and many other illegal and criminal acts – including using banned munitions.
Legal Weasel words such as ‘Kenetic action’ and ‘Humanitarian Intervention’ are used instead of ‘WAR’ in an attempt to escape the legal implications of DECLARING a War – which is not done today.
THIS IS MASSIVELY IMPORTANT – The US, by designating the Iranian military as ‘Terrorist’ is a declaration of the following: The US will not abide by any International Laws, agreements, Treatyies, or Conventions (including the Genevea and Haig Conventions!). The US will use all any methods, tactics and weapons (including those banned or otherwise illegal) to fight the Iranians, and they will NOT take care of any wounded or any Prisoners, and will NOT protect any civillians or civillian infrasture (including medical hospitals and evacuation ships).
The US is attempting to circumvent, by apparent and bogus imperial decree no less, the very laws that even the harshest of enemies during WW1 and WW2 sought to follow – and then to escape international criminal prosecution!
The Iranians, by designating the US military also as ‘Terrorists’ have indicated that if no prisoners are to be taken, no international laws are to be followed, and no quarter or mercy given to the wounded or civillians alike – then they too are prepared for that ‘Game’.

Thought provoking comment, which has me thinking. By designating the IRGC as terrorist then does not that mean that the USA will feel free to assassinate any of its members as it does with other such designated organisations? I think the line of logic is clear and such attacks might well be forthcoming. However, the Iranian response is probably more symbolic and I would not expect assassinations to be part of the plan.

Oh I am very open about that. Probably 90% of major politicians in the USA have sold out to both a foreign nation (Israel) and to the UN’s-globalism agenda to put the world government courts in Israel. And about 60% of the minor politicians are sold out ‘such as city mayors’ Just electing a non-zionist president will not fix everything. However if anything is going to get fixed it is a good place to start. A good president gets to appoint a number of positions, such as Generals and Judges and State department and Ambassadors to the UN and such. If a good president is elected in can help turn the tide. This would not be the final fix, just a major fix to turn things around. We are trying everything political and legal to turn things around. Trying to be innovative and forward moving. Iran needs a credible foreign policy and create alliances or will get rolled over. Iranian policies or lack of them are quite baffling, Iran started a toothless nuclear program, invited pushing sanctions, isolation and did not even have a weapons program. Any rational nation facing existential threat would have focused on developing a nuclear deterrent, like North Korea has done.

it seems that iran has established a good relation with russia and you can expect that russia will continue to deliver high tech weapons to the country, in barter deals with iranian oil that russia can trade on russian keels down the african east coast uzw, just like they did during the previous sanctions regime. iran has also established a working relation with turkey and there is an alliance which includes qatar which shares the south pars gas-field with iran and that alliance is rather anxious to set things right in the middle east, like evicting the squatters for good, build the gasline from the south pars/iran/iraq/syria/turkey and then to europe.
