Iran is seeking the S-400 air defense system from Russia, Bloomberg News reported on March 2, citing Israeli and American sources.
The sources said that the possible acquisition of the sophisticated air defense system by Tehran would speed up an Israeli decision on a possible attack on Iranian nuclear sites. Russia has not yet said publicly whether it will supply the system.
The S-400 air defense system was developed by Russia’s defense giant Almaz-Antey to counter all sorts of airborne threats, including stealth fighter jets, cruise missiles, drones and ballistic missiles.
The system utilizes several types of missiles with different specifications, with the most capable being the 48N6 and 40N6E with the ranges of 250 and 400 kilometers respectively. The main radar of the system, the 91N6, has a maximum detection range of up to 600 kilometers.
According to Bloomberg News report, Iran could need up to two years to operate the S-400 system if a deal was reached with Russia.
Russian-Iranian military cooperation grew last year. The United States and its allies claim that Russia received hundreds of combat and suicide drones from Iran for use in its special military operation in Ukraine.
In 2019 some Iranian officials expressed interest in procuring the S-400 missile system to further improve its defense capabilities along with the previously purchased S-300PMU2. Russia stated at the time it was ready to sell the S-400 system to Iran if an official request was made.
The reports of a possible S-400 deal came following talk of Russian preparations to deliver several weapon systems, including some two dozen Su-35 fighter jets, to Iran.
Israel has been threatening Iran over its nuclear program for the last two decades. Tensions rose after the U.S. withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal. Talks to resolve the issue slowed down last year, which explains why Tehran may be preparing for a worst case scenario.

Now can you link me the source which claim Iran said it is “better than Russian S-400”? I would love to read which dumbass said that. Also, Russia is selling their jets, attack helicopters and there were words going around for years that Iran was looking to buy Russian S-400 and that Russia didn’t had problem with selling them to Iran.

was not referring to TASS but to Iranian source. That news article goes back to the time of the 1st appearance of the production model of that system. I can’t find my source now since that was early last year. I have no clue even where exactly I red it.. The words were ;” as good as and in many aspects even better than S-400″ or something very similar to that.(I remember it because I was considering it exaggerated immediately) The person who wrote it (expert or journalist) obviously couldn’t say that. Since no Iranian military expert was even close to S-400 at the time. Let alone to know the specifics.
Russia had big problem selling them S-300 for sure. When Iran finally decided to take it to the international court (because they have paid in advance and waited for years) Russia suddenly decided to re-mediate and have sent them S–300PMU2 (some say that it was S-400 in “everything but the name” I doubt that because the biggest problem is always the long range 400km missiles (with reduced export range)as compensation and apology) Chinese who pre-ordered long before anybody else, before the sales of S-400 even started, have waited long time to see finally long range missiles)
Russia has better air defence systems compare to other countries that are selling them. But no air defence is great, The U.S. Patriot missiles failed to stop drones and cruise missiles attacking Saudi oil sites. Over the years we seen $100-$200 Gaza rockets breakthrough Israeli air defence systems and one of Syria S-200 missile landed inside Israel near their nuclear site. Same goes with Russia another massive explosion reported just today in Moscow region, in the suburbs of Kolomna.

The most recent “Iron Dome” usage between Israel and plain old rockets from Gaza says a lot. Plenty of damage was done by plain rockets. While patriot missiles did stop many of them. The images of the sky that night in Israel, you could see the missile/rocket trails. Maybe you remember that? Imagine if Gaza/Hezbollah had guided missiles!

I linked you 3 source one from Russia, one from West MSM and one from Iran. None of them mentioned that the Bavar-373 was better than S-400 – that was my point. I was interest which news outlet said, “as good as and in many aspects even better than S-400”.
Also, you should check your sources, you know PressTV or Fars News – those are real Iranian news sites – but they are fake news site which claim they are Iranian news site like Iran international (they are base in London).
The Bavar-373 is based of S-300 and Iran claim they upgrade it, now people claim it is close to S-400, you have to take it with a grain of salt – all of it is just claims. TBH, I was mainly wondering which news outlet claim that.
Israel can’t attack Iran alone and destroy Iran’s hardened underground nuclear facilities unless of course the IDF were to use nukes if they really have them. If Israel does use nukes then Putin will have an excuse to use nukes in Ukraine and bring the war to a quick end on his terms.

Iran build underground military sites BEACUSE if their enemy use nuclear weapons they wouldn’t be able to destroy those underground bases – that is the whole point. Those bases are deep underneath a mountain NOT level ground and you have to hit it right to even come close to damaging it.
