The Iranian leadership decided to postpone an attack on Israel after Donald Trump won the United States presidential elections last week, Israeli officials familiar with the matter told Israel Hayom on November 14.
According to the news outlet, Iran shelved its plans in the hope of kick-starting negotiations with the Trump administration, which will take charge on January 20.
The officials also told the outlet that the incoming administration is drafting plans to bring down the Islamic revolutionary government, which has ruled Iran for more than four decades. Tehran’s decision to refrain from attacking Israel at this time was reportedly made to head off this scenario.
The Israeli report came a day after Iranian sources told Sky News Arabia that Trump’s impending return to the White House led the Tehran regime to delay the attack.
Iran and its allies in the so-called Axis of Resistance have been reportedly preparing to respond to the October 26 Israeli strikes. Several Iranian military targets, including air defenses and missile sites, were hit during the strikes, which also claimed the lives of four officers.
The strikes were in themselves a response to a large-scale ballistic missile attack launched by Tehran that targeted Israel on October 1.
Israel Hayom’s report came a day after Iranian sources told Sky News that Trump’s impending return to the White House caused Tehran to delay the attack.
Speaking to reporters on November 13, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that communication channels with Washington “still exist.”
“We have differences with the Americans, which are sometimes very fundamental and central and may not be resolved, but we must manage them to reduce their costs and decrease the tensions,” Araghchi said.
While Iran appears to be open to work with the U.S. to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, any such efforts with the current or next American administrations will not likely work if Israel refuses to end its wars on the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

it doesn’t mean anything as iran attacks israel through its proxies in syria, iraq, lebanon and yemen. these are connected vessels, and at some point there will be a strategic decision by israel that they will no longer deal with iranian proxies but will deal with the core of the problems. if iran is serious, why not to negotiate a ceasefire in lebanon and dissolve hezbollah. (fantasy as all we know it will never happen)

i have no problem with this statement. israel is indeed a treacherous country, but iran is not in a position to dictate terms. if they have an instinct for self-preservation, they should limit their hostility to israel, because otherwise they will be massacred like hamas in gaza. trump is not very keen to start a war because it is very unpopular in america, but if the attacks on israel continue, he will do it.
