On November 6, the Iranian military unveiled a new long-range anti-aircraft missile for the domestically-developed Bavar-373 air-defense system.
The new missile, dubbed Sayyad 4B, was showcased during a ceremony that was attended by Iran’s Minister of Defense, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, Commander of Iran’s Army Air Defense Force, Brigadier General Alireza Sabahifard, and a group of Iranian defense industry experts.
Speaking at the ceremony, Brig. Gen. Sabahifard said that Iran is one of the few countries in the world that has been able to produce such air-defense systems.
“As much as the threats advance, the Bavar-373 system and other air defense systems advance ahead of the current threats,” he said.
The Sayyad 4B, which is propelled by a hybrid solid fuel engine, has a range of 300 kilometers and an engagement altitude of up to 32 kilometers.
To make use of the new missile, the range of the detection radar of the Bavar-373 system was increased from 350 to 450 kilometers, while the range of its tracking radar was increased from 260 to 400 kilometers.
In a recent test, the Bavar-373 system successfully hit an aerial target at a distance of over 300 kilometers with a Sayyad 4B missile. The air-defense system managed to detect the target at a range of more than 450 kilometers and track it at a distance of around 405 km before engaging it with the new missile.
Not much is known about the guidance system of the Sayyad 4B. It is suspected that the missile utilizes a complex guidance technique known as track-via-missile, which combines features of semi-active radar homing and radio command guidance.
The Sayyad 4B will without a doubt boost the air defense capabilities of Iran. The country has been working to locally develop these capabilities for a long while.

Going by words of News sites, Russia is training Iranian jet pilots and Russia did yeet a satellite for Iran not long ago. What is left is the sale of S-400 systems to Iran. I’m not sure if Iran would want to buy S-400 as they claimed they have made/upgraded their own systems that are close to or the same as S-400 systems.
To be honest the way the relationship between Iran and Russia is going, I think Russia will give them better than the s400. But stuff like this will never be made public so I guess we’ll never know
I remember reading that Iran had S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems (back then people said it was one or two systems tho). Also, Algeria made a deal to buy Russian T-14 tanks, S-500 air defense systems and Su-34M bombers, (India is also looking to buy the S-500 as well).
It seems that Russia is pushing the S-500 air defense missile system into mass production. Maybe Iran is also looking to buy S-500 which makes sense to be fair.

I hope “Almaz-Antey” has shared some technologies as excuse for delay S-300 shipping. Now need to produce enough such systems to make unpleasant surprise for aggressors (we know who) and to test it in Syria may be.
The problem with these anti aircraft missiles is they can’t really shoot down the modern USA stealth planes.
This gives USA/Israel the ability to not be hit by these missiles.
I don’t think anything can be done about this as the radar signature is just so small what can you do.
